How can one get started in doing voice over work?

I'm interested in doing voice work for commercials or phone answering services. How can i get started? I'm not from a major metro area.

voice over work is one of the most sought after jobs for actors and its a lot harder than people realize, you would have to have an agent and make lots of tapes of your voice

You need to start by putting together a "reel" of your work. This would require getting into a studio and haveing your voice professionally recorded and edited. Then you mail your reel to agents seeking to represent voice-over actors. It is a good idea to enroll in a course at a broadcasting school and maybe moving to a metro area with more opportunities in this field of work.
