Singing....?

I've never been a real singer, I just sing whenever im singing along to a tune or when im singing a hymn during church. But one day I was singing along to "I wanna be a producer" and my mom looked over at me wide eyed and shocked. I stopped and said "what?" and she said you know what? you have a beautiful voice! but i dont know if she was just being nice or if she was serious...can i trust my mom and believe that i really do have a good voice?

Answer:
Trust your mom, and also talk to a private voice teacher about it, they should be able to tell you more. Good Luck!

Your mom cannot be trusted as an objective judge of your talent. Parents almost always have a biased interpretation of how good their kids are at something. Have your choir teacher evaluate you or maybe even some of your friends. You will be certain to get an objective opinion then.

Either it is true or it is a lie, It does not matter as long as you believe in yourself. I have some website with videos on it that would help you better... http://www.expertvillage.com/videos/vocal-exercise-overview.htm There are also many lessons there with different teachers. It really helped me a lot...Let me know if it has helped you...

Dont audition for anything yet. I would trust my mom...but not completely. You should get a vocal coach! they know what they are doing and will be honest and help your voice grow to be more beautiful and stronger. They can help so much and train you! Once you have a vocal coach audition for something... Good luck with it!

Are you asking us if you should trust your mother or not, or if you can sing? Either way, I do not know without solid proof. Try singing a simple song in front of some relatives or friends. See what they say.

The best advice I can give you is to talk to your school's chior director and ask him/her. If you do not have a chior director or you are homeschooled, you should talk to more people. If you want to be serious about going into singing or stage, a smart thing for you to do is look into getting voice lessons.

Might as well take her seriously.
