Which stephen king books will be my best buy?

I have read most of Stephen King but I have stayed away from the Dark Tower books. Have many favourites but Insomnia is one of the best in my opinion. Try Dean Koontz he is very good too.

stick to his earlier writings, the new ones aren't nearly as good!

The Shining, Salems Lot, Misery and Green Mile are excellent books by Stephen King!

I've only read two Stephen King books - The Stand and Cycle of the Werewolf. Cycle is easy to get your head around and has some fab illustrations. The Stand is 1325 pages long, so if you're looking for a lot of book for your buck, it should keep you busy. Although it's long, it doesn't feel like a big book (i.e. it's not unnecessarily flabby).

Insomnia is very good and try and get the full, uncut version of The Stand - it's 1500 pages so is about the longest book I've every read, but it's brilliant. I liked Delores Claiborne - both the film and the book - even though the stories are slightly different. Dean Koonz is equally good and quite prolific. Get down to your local library as soon as poss. - you'll be hooked.

I recommend The Shining,its twice as good as the movie.

I enjoyed "The Tommy Knockers" and "Misery", "Rose Madder" and "Hearts in Atlantis" "Desperation" then recently read "Cell" not liked so much as his previous work, I too am a big fan of his read every book at least twice. I do not go for the "Dark Tower " series.

My personal favorite is 'the Talisman'

Skeleton Crew, it's a collection of stories, the first of which is The Mist, which is really good. Christine & Firestarter are also great books. I'd buy them all.
