In what year did the Montreal Gazette published its first edition?

What does "The City Room Edition" mean in a book?

  • I received "Freedom of the Press" by George Seldes. It was published the same year and by the same company as the first edition book. However, my book does not say 1st edition as I am told many others do. Instead, it states "The City Room Edition" on a seperate page from the copyright information. I am unable to find any information about "The City Room Edition." Does anyone have any ideas what this means? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A city room is a sort of editorial department for staffers of newspapers, or publishing houses. I can't be 100% sure, but perhaps this edition went to the city room so that the work force could peruse it and give feedback on it. Or perhaps it was just their own reference library copy. Gordon Bennett!!! I have just found this reference to the origin of the city room, which is in the source link.
