What does the quote mean in the Book Night By Elie Wiesel?

Well, I'll take a stab at it, though I cannot find my copy of Night right now, so I am lacking context. Each person has their own path to Truth, All, Enlightenment, Salvation, God, Allah, Jehovah, call it what you will (I think of It as "That Which IS.). We are each unique. Different individuals starting from different points. We travel in our own way, at our own speed. Each must be true to their own nature, and their own Way. To force oneself to comply with another's doctrine, if one does not truly feel it, is wrong. It is false. This is bad for you, and bad for everyone else. You are not serving your own true nature, and you are perverting or distorting someone else's. I believe Elie Wiesel started life as a very devout Orthodox Jew. His experiences, and the loss of his family, at Auschwitz, under such horrific conditions, caused him to re-evaluate everything he thought he had known or believed. I think he found he could no longer be true to his Father's path, or to the path he, himself, had originally thought he was on. That's what I think, anyway.
