How to write a forwarding letter?

{Books & Authors} If your character wrote a thank you letter to you, what would they write?

  • It’s noon, mail time, you head out to your mailbox and open it to find a single letter. Flipping the letter over in your hand you read the addressing label, it’s from your main character {or any character you wish to use}. You go into home and site at your dining room table, after opening the letter you begin to read… it is a ‘Thank You’ letter. What would they write to you? ---- Bonus Question: How would you responded to the letter? If you decide to write back, what would you write?

  • Answer:

Kat, So I heard you're writing a story about me? Well that's...hmm. I'm not exactly sure how to respond, but thank you! I haven't read it yet, but I'm sure you portrayed me as me - hopefully without giving away too many of my secrets. I know it's been a long journey together. All those late nights planning out dialogue; what I would say to Kye and Rye. We've been through quite a bit. Whenever you were sad, you wrote me as sad. Whenever you were happy, you wrote me as happy. You've been there for me through thick and thin, and I like to think I've been there for you. Thanks for making me seem so real, and for writing Halo as the sweet angel she is. Thank you for writing Rye as the amazing friend she is - full of beauty, grace, and laughs. Thank you for making my voyage to the sun's alter more fun than it actually should have been. (Um surviving on dew is pretty hard, even for a creature like me ;) Congratulations on getting this far with your writing, keep up the good work! Loves, Harp

Dear Lily, Thank you for making me into a pawn of countless beings. Thank you for making me a slave of the Crystalline, entranced by a succubus, and controlled by a parasitic monster. It saved me the trouble of having to decide how to live my own life and of making my own decisions. Thanks again, for sending me into the hands of forces that would devour my soul in an instant. Luca Bq: I would just stare at the venom-laced letter, drop it in the trash, and try to get on with torturing my characters. >: )

Dear Creator, Thanks for bringing me into this world called reality. Why couldn't you have written me into a fantasy story? At least then I wouldn't have to worry about such mundane stuff and actually, like, concentrate on one thing, such as survival. But no, you just had to lump me with a ditsy mother and a rotten Dad. It's okay, though. I forgive you. Almost. I thank you for bringing Jason into life - my everything all wrapped in one. Oh, you'd never allow me to say that in a story, but I'm no longer under your control. Sorry. I also thank you for the turn around in my life. I guess it's not all doom and gloom, even if it felt like it most of the time. I'm glad my "friends" were out of the picture and new ones came in. I thank you for setting the story in a beautiful place, though I would rather have been in Greece or some other_hot_country! You fool! Anyway, I must go. Bye! From Sophia xoxo BQ: I'd wipe my tears away, sniffle into my tissue. Sigh. My baby's all grown up.

None of my characters are really capable of writing afterwards. They end up in either asylums or dead. Dear Creator, Thank you so much for making me be dragged through an endless hallway, forced to watch a baby be eaten alive by the beast-god, nearly killed, and being sent to an asylum from the madness of the whole thing. Love, Nick

Dear Beth, Thank you for killing me twice. Much appreciated. Live long, die old. Jokes. Love you! Maiyah xxxx --- I would simply write back with the following: "Jokes? JOKES?! ... I know who's going to fall off a cliff next ..."

Dear Lili, I never understood the reason of why you created a so depressive character as me that goes through very hard times but never lets a single tear fall out. But I am thankful for trying to make me as real as possible, for caring about my feelings and trying to do the best to make me feel better. Thank you for giving me two loving sisters and a boyfriend which opened my eyes to understand the true meaning of life and love. I hope I do not sound cliche with this letter but you know how short of words I'm always am. Love, Nic BQ: I would first wonder how the heck she got my address and then I would reply back with a simple two words sentence: You're welcome.
