Personally, I thought the final book in the Twilight Saga was extremely disappointing. Breaking Dawn should have ended on page 122, no questions asked. Bella was totally out of character and E/B love was virtually nonexistent throughout the entire convoluted plotline. The entire book read like a horribly written fanfic (and I've read fanfics that were better than this book). Plus, the little details in facial expressions and descriptions that intensify the mood in Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse did not exist in Breaking Dawn. The most integral part of this story that was missing was the portrayal of the depth of emotion which has captured the interest of fans across the globe. It was the intimacy with the characters, where we could identify with them and truly feel their compassion, love, hatred, worry, and anxiousness that I really missed in this novel. SPOILER ALERT DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK!!!! Ok, so now that my disappointed review of the book is out, here are just a few of the details and plotlines in the book that were confusing, totally out of character, impossible, fan-fiction-ish, or just strange and out of place. I have included some of the parts I enjoyed, also. 1) We never get to hear about Edward's bachelor party, and did Alice even plan a bachelorette party for Bella? 2) There was not enough character development for the Denali clan. I felt like they were just empty, filler-characters to give the Cullens allies later on in the book. 3) The story of the 'immortal children' was just randomly thrown into the story at the wrong time and felt out of place. I would have rather learnt more about the Denali clan than their deceased mother. 4) I absolutely loved the wedding ceremony that Alice planned (Go Team Alice!) and in my head, the dresses, decorations, and Edward in a tux were all beautiful. My only qualm with this scene is that I don't think Bella should have cried as she said, "I do." Plus, their little make-out session at the altar is gooey and out of place. I know that Bella supposedly loves Edward more than anything else in the world, but she is, as a part of her nature, extremely self-conscious and dislikes attention. But that's just me being a little too picky as I go back and scan the book for the parts that bothered me. 5) I would have liked to have seen more of the humans at the wedding reception, but oh well. (as a side note, when did Edward vomit the piece of cake he swallowed at the wedding?) 6) I loved how Jake showed up outside the wedding, but, of course, Bella has to cause even more werewolf angst and go into the 'gritty-details' of her wedding night. I totally agree with Jake here, since he, throughout the entire book, is the only one who really wants to keep Bella safe and is desperate to do anything for her. 7) Ok, who else thought that Isle Esme was completely ridiculous and gooshey (yes, i do own the copyright to the word gooshey now haha). Of course, Edward just can't take Bella to Hawaii or Europe (but far enough away from the Volturi). No, he has to borrow an island his family OWNS! *heavy sarcasm 8) I'm starting to sense a really out of character-ness for Bella. She's not objecting to any of these ridiculous things Edward is giving her and she's shoved the Jake fiasco into a 'Jacob-drawer.' Ridiculous. Even on her honeymoon she would be angsty and worrying about Jake. 9) I think Bella's nervousness and her courage as she goes out to the beach was perfect and I think that Stephenie did a great job in this scene. Although I really think Alice would have included some sweat pants for Bella. 10) Fade out to morning after, Edward's typical self-hate, and the pillows were all good to the storyline. Steph starts to use more curse words here, which kind of surprised me. 11) Can Bella only eat eggs? 12) Bella's hormones eventually take over and she 'seduces' Edward with her dream. Kinda freaky? haha. Then she completely DOESN'T want to become a vampire, even though she had absolutely decided to become one at the end of Eclipse. 13) Ok, the cleaning crew. Come on, I mean what are the chances of having a superstitious cleaning crew who knows everything there is to know about vampire-human relations. Its just downright obvious that Steph has something planned with these people in the future, even though there's no character development with these random strangers. 14) Ok, now it starts to get ridiculous. Hasn't Stephenie told us that vampires can't get pregnant? I mean, I know that Bella still can but the idea is so utterly preposterous that I can't believe that Meyers would do this to the book. At this point I was thinking, "Did someone put a fake copy of this book in the bookstore just to fool with someone's head!? It's reading like a fan-fiction I read months ago, but somehow worse!" 15) Why would the cleaning woman, so utterly terrified of Edward's vampiric qualities, help him and give him information that he needed? How did he ask the right questions? Its not like, "Hey, Kaure, I just knocked up my human gf and we think she's kinda sorta really pregnant, so what will the weird thing inside of her do?" No. That could not happen. Even Edward with his dazzling charms could not pull off that conversation. 16) Ok, so now that I'm furious at Edward for being so careless and stupid and disappointed that Bella has gotten a personality makeover and really angry at Steph for doing this to me, the only character left to me is Jake. I will admit that I was one of the Jacob haters before the release of the book. Now, Team Jacob all the way! I enjoyed part of the book in Jake's point of view, but it seemed to drag too much. 17) Claire/Quil was cute, but the baby talk was annoying and demeaning. 18) Edward asking Jake to get Bella pregnant?! I mean, come on Stephenie. Even in his darkest pit of torturous despair, he never would have asked that. It was out of character entirely. I couldn't believe that Jake had the courage to actually discuss it with Bella because it was so out of the question. 19) Now, Rosalie is made into a hero in Bella’s eyes, only because Rose wants Bella to die so Rosalie can get what she always wanted, a child. I wish Carlisle and Edward had temporarily disassemble Rosalie because she’s annoying and cause me to lose all of the positive opinions of her I had after reading Eclipse. She just turned into a desperate, baby-starved, psycho vamp. 20) I do love the titles for Jake's chapters. They're just so...Jake. 21) The italicized type for the thoughts of the werewolves was a tad confusing. 22) Its great that Jake forms his own pack and I now love Seth and Leah. Team Leah! Because she’s independent and can hold her own. 23) It was so obvious from Jake’s first thought of Bella drinking blood that she would end up doing it. If vamps are supposed to be so much smarter than humans, then how did these idiots not think of having Bella digest blood. It seems like all of them are rapidly losing their IQ. 24) With the biological explanation of Bella’s baby, it seemed like Stephenie was trying to make the idea of mutant spawn plausible, which was utterly ridiculous and annoying. 25) Ok, Bella drinks blood. And. She. Likes. It. WHAT?! This story makes no sense and Bella has lost all of her humanity. Wasn’t she horribly repulsed by blood from the very start? As a side note, why does Carlisle have a virtual hospital at his house and why does he have human blood if he’s a vegan vamp? He said the blood was for Bella when she changed, but why would she drink human blood if she was trying to be a veggie vampire like the rest of her family? No. Sense. Whatsoever. 26) Too much werewolf angst and tension that wasted about 100 pages. I suffered through the 700 page book. 27) I love how Leah gets furious with the pack if they think about seeing her naked and the blonde jokes are hilarious. Plus I love the dog food bowl and You. Got. Food. In. My. Hair. 28) Rose gets so territorial it’s ridiculous. 29) A fountain of blood? Ok, now the birth scene. Gruesome. It was stupid of Carlisle to leave hunting when Bella needed him the most. He should have done a C-section or something. Her spine cracks? I think Steph is just playing it up to show that Bella is sacrificing everything she has, just to leave her dead with a husband who is going to commit suicide because of her death but has to suffer and take care of her mutant spawn. I can add pregnancy and birth to my list of phobias because of this horrific, violent birth scene. Thanks Steph. 30) I thought that once people’s hearts stopped beating, it was impossible for venom to bring them back to life. Oh well, since we’re so far out with vampire babies why not add some more impossibilities to tick us off. I mean, I know that the world of vampires is not reality, but still, it must have some rules and boundaries and the rules can’t bend and break for Bella just because she’s ‘special.’ 31) RENESMEE?! What kind of a name is that?! 32) WHAT?! Jacob. Can. Not. Imprint. On. Bella’s. Mutant. Spawn. If I wasn’t for Team Jacob I would have laughed at his unluckiness. But of course, Steph is trying to make this a happy story for everyone, even though it’s just turning out into a disastrous death spiral of crappy writing. For the other three books, the problems throughout the book for at least one character were the things that made the books seem like reality. In this book, it reads too much like a fairy tale with everyone living their own happy, perfect lives. That does not happen. Reality is not a fairy tale with happy endings. Bella and Edward can’t just walk off into the sunset, abandoning their problems and expecting all their troubles to disappear forever. 33) The representation of the pain was good, but when she awoke as a vampire, something didn’t feel right to me. I finally realized what was the matter. The Twilight series up until this point was focused around the central problem of Bella remaining human and attracting bad luck because of her blood. I was halfway through the book and the main problem of the entire series was over. The rest, I realized, was just going to be fluff. And I was right. 34) Her ease at becoming a vegan vamp is just sickening and utterly absurd. 35) Bella has lost all of her personality when she becomes a vampire. She is no longer self-conscious and dependent upon Edward. She’s intelligent now as a vampire (sorry but her stupidity in parts of the other books annoyed me) but I think Bella was right about one thing when she was a human, that she wouldn’t be the same after her transformation. And she was right. There is no one in this book that we can relate to now. All the characters have been distorted and lost all of their former characteristics. 36) Renesmee is just annoying the hell out of me. She’s the perfect, most beautiful child in the world who’s already able to communicate, doesn’t make any messes, has special powers, and is adored by everyone. It’s just sickening. When Bella says, “my little nudger,” it makes me cringe. 37) Bella is just strange when she gets mad at Jake when he imprints on her freako spawn. Why should she be mad at Jake? She already knows that imprinting is involuntary. She’s just having another human spaz attack, but as a vamp with perfect self-control. Jake, at least, gave the creature a decent name, Nessie, instead of freaking Renesmee. 38) Bella gets a loveshack for her birthday? Are you serious? Totally fanfic. 39) CHARLIE?! What? Ok, now I’m furious at Steph. Everything Bella sacrificed as a human is coming back to her like her choice to become a vampire had no adverse consequences. Plus, I’m pretty sure Charlie WOULD freak out if he saw Jake get naked and then transform. 40) Carlie? Now this is totally cheesy. I’m cringing too much. 41) I know the strength of newborns is supposed to be much stronger than the strength of an older vamp, but come on, Emmett’s strength feeling like a feather? That’s too extreme. 42) Bella receives a jumbo diamond from Aro. Totally random and unnecessary. 43) Irina going to the Volturi? If Irina was mentally scarred by the fact that her mother was killed because of her immortal children creations, then why would she want the Cullens to experience that kind of grief and unending torture? I mean, why would she want to be a ‘purist when it came to the law?’ Can’t she hear the spawn’s heartbeat? Seriously, if vamps can hear what is happening miles away, can’t they hear a half-human’s heartbeat? 44) I think the idea of meeting all the other Amazonian and Scottish vampires is an awesome idea, but since they’re so many of them, I feel like each is just a printed name on the page with no depth. 45) When Alice writes in her note, “There isn’t time to write,” it annoyed me because aren’t all vampires able to write super-fast? 46) Why has the entire treaty disappeared and why does no one care about it anymore? 47) The whole sub-plot with J. Jenks had potential to be cool, but it fizzled out because it went nowhere. Plus, all that effort Bella went through wasn’t needed and it just wasted more pages in this already long and stretched out book. 48) I think Alec’s talent is totally bamf. Eleazar is an awesome name, too. 49) I think the shield power is really weird but necessary in order to find an answer to solve this droning, convoluted plotline when the Volturi come. By this time I was suffering so much that I only skimmed the paragraphs. 50) Bella gets all defensive about Renesmee which gets old really quickly. 51) I suppose its Steph’s good intentions, but the thing between Sue and Charlie is kinda weird. Its nice that Charlie has someone to cook for him and someone to talk to, but as long as they don’t get married or anything…which would be really creepy in my opinion. It’d be like, hey, lets have Charlie marry the wife of his dead best friend. Eww. No. That can’t happen. 52) Kate/Garrett is kinda cute, but really undeveloped and a little empty in my opinion. 53) Bella saying goodbye to Renesmee (eww the name is just so wrong and strange and eww) is just a waste because we all know that the Cullens will win against the Volturi like they always do. It’s just wasting paper on family gushy-ness which is sickening. 54) I absolutely love how the Volturi appear into the meadow because of its graceful creepiness. They produce an aura of unquestionable power and fear when they walk in their organized, graceful formations. 55) Of course, the Volturi have their moments of stupidity and can’t hear Renesmee’s heartbeat even thought their hearing is one thousand times better than human hearing. 56) Wait, so werewolves are no longer werewolves? They’re…shape-shifters? Wow, thanks Steph, I really needed to know. 57) The Volturi seem fine after they destroy Irina, actually happy to be there with the weird half-human mutant spawn. Then, they apparently have a sudden onslaught of PMS and immediately change their minds. Who knew old vampire men were so hormonal? 58) Garrett suddenly has his speech-moment which was really nice, but at this point, nothing could salvage the book. 59) Why does everyone have a little make-out session when they think they are all going to die? Annoying. Gooshey. Repetitive. 60) I like how Alice suddenly appeared with their ‘savior mutants’ but I really missed her throughout the book. 61) Happy Ending? Ugh. Out of character. Too perfect. Unrealistic. So, those were my opinions of the book. What were yours? I’m not sorry at all if what I say offends you or if you enjoyed the book. To each his own and you are entitled to think whatever you want. I’m just getting my opinions out there on the web because I felt strongly about how much this book disappointed me. If you did not like my critical review of Breaking Dawn, then why did you read it?

Answer:
You were so right on every level that I'm pretty speechless. Honestly, the plot was just completely thrown away. 1) The wedding is something that Bella doesn't want to do and so she should be making a huge deal about it and Alice should be going crazy and overboard with stuff for it but nope it just comes right on out in a couple of pages at the beginning. 2) Wait...what bachelor party? bachelorette party? Denali who??? where's the whole jealous stare off with Tanya and Bella? 3) Immortal children....wow that's convenient...wonder why it wasn't mentioned earlier in the series... 4) makeout session at the wedding in front of everyone...oh yeah bella is sooo self conscious 5) another waste of pages with the whole edward actually eating thing...i mean come on please just save him from the pain of it already 6) another classic case of Bella's stupidity at times 7) Isle Esme...such a creative name and all psh...i mean i expected Edward to go all out and take bella everywhere and let her do tons of once in a lifetime human things before changing her and all...oh and what's with Bella's sudden craving for sex???? 8) yep the wonderful character of Bella was completely lost...it was semi-there during the honeymoon scene but that was it...haha "Jacob drawer" that's pretty bad Steph 9) the beach scene was pretty much the only one that I really enjoyed and reminded me that bd was part of a series, hence that it was the only scene with good bella characterization 10) I liked the pillow stuff...it was good humor to the story 11) gotta love eggs right? 12) Bella seducing a vampire...haha wow i really cant picture that...and why on earth would she think about staying human? I mean i was like waiting for the gotcha part through that entire chapter. 13) very convenient that the cleaning crew (who has a cleaning crew on their own island?) is a bunch of superstitious ppl 14) ok with the pregnancy thing i was like wha??? Did this get switched with one of the twilight fanfiction cliches on the internet? nope 15) ya heck if i was the superstitious cleaning lady i'd be like "Ahhh vampire!!! Run away!!!" and not even speak to him let alone tell him what he wants to know 16) yes I hated Jacob with a huge passion before bd...now he's like the only real character for me 17) I agree 18) Is Edward a flipping idiot???? How about adoption instead of being like "okay Bella you have sex with me tonight and Jacob tomorrow night and vice versa until you get pregnant with the werewolf's (cough i mean shapeshifter's) baby" 19) I can't believe observant Bella would be so blind to Rosalie's desires like that...ugh 20) I got bd at the airport and im a pretty fast reader and my plane was delayed so i got to his pov and once i read the titles, i started cracking up laughing which caused the ppl next to me to stare at me like i was a complete idiot haha i liked them 21) I agree 22) I love Leah and I actually wished that Jake would end up with her instead of Renesesmee(*cringe* the name ew) 23) Yep the vampire IQ keeps on depleting...I wonder if a mentally retarded person that was changed into a vampire would be like normal or still mentally retarded...hmmm 24) mutant spawn hahahaha i like that...yep just ANOTHER convenient story 25) ya Bella and blood aren't supposed to mix so what's up with that??? and she's still human! 26) I suffered too. 27) Again, I love Leah haha. plus even though im blond, i liked the jokes haha... You. Got. Food. In. My. Hair. 28) Rosalie=territorial 29) I don't do blood and now I'm terrified of birth scenes...thanks Stephenie! now i know to just adopt and faint at the sight of blood 30) we all bend the rules for bella cuz she's special...wtf?!?! 31) RENESMEE?! Steph lost her creativity by a long shot...even cheesy Carlie would have been better cuz its an actual name!!! 32) how cliche is that? jacob still gets a part of bella with re-whatsherface...ewww stephenie turned into a pedophile 33) ya so I was expecting more of like edward being against the whole transformation and a lot of angst leading up to her changing but nope...it just comes out of nowhere..."oh no she's dieing cuz of her mutant spawn! here's some venom Bella! BAM!!!! vampire Bella 34) Hello??? what happened to crazed newborn??? 35) yep may as well have just gotten a vampire, named her Bella, and put her in the book 36) "my little nudger" ha! that sounds sooo wrong 37) i know...where did all that protectiveness come from? and what's with the maternal side of her? 38) Totally fanfic. 39) I know! she totally is trying to make everyone happy with the whole Charlie thing and I actually said wtf out loud when I read it...WTF!?!?!?! 40) *cringe* 41) I agree 42) and she actually wears the jumbo diamond thing!!! 43) yep, totally out of character 44) there isn't any characterization at all 45) and I know vampires are supposed to be smart but with everyone's IQs depleting, doesn't Alice's plan seem a little too brilliant and coincidental??? 46) It's like bd isn't even a part of the series bc everything that mattered before doesn't in bd...hello? treaty=law 47) another waste of pages 48) I wish Steph would have actually gone more in-depth with Alec bc he is actually one of my fav characters and he's like one of the most important, if not the most important, part of the volturi and so I think he should have at least gotten a couple of lines...love his power though 49) BAM! super bella comes to the rescue! 50) yeah, WHATEVER HAPPENED TO EDWARD BEING THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO BELLA?!?!?!?!?!? 51) idk that seemed like it was just a friendship thing but again, Stephenie is just trying to please everyone 52) i loved them and thought that there could have been more pages about them 53) more fluff and waste of pages 54) Love the Volturi's entrance...yay!!! 55) another coincidence 56) either she got some bad press about them not being real werewolves or stephenie meyer has gone insane 57) PREMENSTRUAL VAMPIRES!!!!! 58) such a motivational speech...too bad its pointless cuz nothing happens 59) Annoying. Gooshey. Repetitive. Took the words right out of my mouth 60) her character just went away...like the rest of the Cullens 61) Exactly. Too perfect. Unrealistic *I think what really bothers me is that the whole love story theme is gone. Edward and Bella's characters are completely wrong and Bella is all like "okay I have Edward, now what? Oh here comes my mutant spawn yay!!!" *There's also no action or suspense like the other books had. I remember one reviewer had said that breaking dawn was just like a drawn out epilogue and i have to completely agree with that. *There's too much fluff and it's not even the good kind between Edward and Bella. *Jacob Black went insane. Imprinting on a half-vampire baby. Wow creepy!!! *I also wish that everything would have been in Bella's pov like the other books. That just would have given it a better connection to the rest of the series *wish there was more about the Volturi too. Like the rest of the laws and their powers and such instead of having them march out from a forest, act like they have pms, be too stupid to hear renesmee's heartbeat, and go back to volterra like cowards *Shouldve been a better plot is all I can really say. Still in love with the first three books, but I probably won't be rereading this one. :(

I thought it was amazing. Mind you, I did skim through large chunks in order to get to the good parts, but I'll go back and reread it now. It was suprising and unpredictable that Bella had a baby- who would have thought? Also, I didn't like the part that was in Jacob's point of view. Who. Cares. I think that vampires are enough for one series without adding werewolves too. The makeout sessions and sexcapades- entertaining. Gooshey? Obviouslly you don't have a boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse. hmmm. I agreed with most of your review though!
regarding to point 14... most twilight fans know that Stephanie Meyer said that female vampires couldn't get pregnant because when they transform, their bodies are basically frozen in time- which is obviously not the case for the male vampires. however, we all know that humans CAN. when renesmee was conceived, bella was still human. i agree on how weird and crazy the plot goes on from there, and how the birth was totally gruesome, AND how the volturi were surprisingly stupid at the end.

I think the fact is that most--or at least many--of Stephenie Meyer's fans are teenagers, who are not necessarily the most family-oriented group of people. They don't understand a mother's point of view, or the way a baby can have a gripping hold on people. It's difficult for this group to read a book from a series that's been about rebellion (from the normal vampires-kill-humans-but-Edward-doesn't-… theme of the rest of the series), danger, tentative love, and strong angst emotion, but suddenly changes to familial love, love of child, and total acceptance with very little or no real reason. Teenagers instinctively grab at a chance to fume at their parents, and the child in this book gave such a good chance for that: she destroyed the romance, reason the Team Edwards were reading in the first place. And then she destroyed (and by she, I'm still talking about Renesmee...and yes I agree, the name sucks. It's a freaking combination of two not even very forefront characters, and plus it sounds really bad. Once again, this is probably the non-familial side of me ranting :P) the reason for Team Jacobs to read it. I personally really, really, REALLY wanted to love the book, but the first reaction I had to it was that its genre changed too much for the same crowd to love it in the same way. It's not a bad book, but it is different from the previous ones, which wasn't what most people were expecting. Also, I understand why the sex scene was skipped over, but...she didn't have to get into the graphic part of it to explain the emotional part of it--the part we all love from other three books. I realize it was left up to imagination, but for me, the reason I wanted to read the book was to not have to imagine it. Duhhhhh. -__-;

It took a while for it to sink in, and I'm not completely sure how I feel about the book, but overall, I liked it. I agree that Bella seemed out of character when I read it. Obviously, she's not going to act the same way she did in Twilight, when she didn't even know Edward was a vampire, but something about her seemed strange to me. Ironically, when she was a vampire, I began to recognize Bella more and feel like maybe she was the person I'd gotten so used to. I think part of this might be that, once again, I was reading her reaction to danger. Bella was so perfectly happy for so long that she almost seemed like a different person. However, when I scanned through the book again, I started to feel like she was less out of character, even in the beginning. About Renesmee: First, let me say that even though the name seemed weird at first, I think it's actually really pretty. She was a little too perfect, but only in book three. After all, in both books two and three she was more of a liability than anything else; she was the almost the reason for so many people's deaths. In my opinion, that sort of makes up for her perfect personality. I was surprised that she could even exist, but I don't think it's so bad that she does. After all, Bella WAS human, and it's the girl that really needs to change during pregnancy, not the boy. Jacob's point of view was very cool, as was him separating from the pack. It may be a bit late for us to decide that he's NOT really a werewolf after all, but I guess I knew that. The imprint was weird, and I'm wondering if it's actually making everything harder, instead of easier. I'm really curious about how that will work out. I wish there'd been more on their relationship. Charlie did not need to be there. It's nice of Steph to try & give him a happy ending, but she went a little too far with him. Personally, I don't mind that there wasn't a full-scale fight at the end. Garrett's speech WAS cool, and I think that the book came as close to a fight as it could without a battle. I wouldn't really mind if it had gone further, but I don't see why it would have to. The talking was pretty dramatic on its own. Those were just a few points I wanted to get out there. Mostly I think that this book is better if you take time to let it sink in. There were a few pieces that Stephenie could have done more with, and I wish that some of the characters had been developed more, especially the ones in relationships, but it wasn't so bad. It was just a little too happy sometimes, but I'm satisfied with the way everything was wrapped up.

I don't hate it. Here's what I think. Bella's pregnancy was certainly a twist, but in a way it made sense- Bella was a human and Edward was a vampire. On the sperm point, well, vampires aren't supposed to exist. So who'se to say what the male's sperm could do? You know? I was kind of disappointed that it happened, but it wasn't terrible. The writing style was different, but it wasn't bad. I thought it was actually better than her other books. But maybe it was Bella. Like you said, she was so different than Twilight, New Moon, and even the more recent Eclipse. I couldn't help but think What? Are you serious? I don't know what that was all about. I mean, I guess it wasn't terrible for her personality to change a bit after she became a vampire, but even before she did, she was too different. I can't decide yet whether I liked it or not. I've JUST finished the book (as in ten minutes ago). I liked how we saw Jacob's POV, and I agree with Graceful Little Alice. The blonde jokes were funny. But I wasn't completely satisfied with his character. The blonde jokes were one of the few things that made Jacob the real Jacob we knew so well in New Moon and Eclipse. His obsession to protect Bella during her pregnancy was another. But everything afterwards, after Renesmee was born, Jacob's character was lost. At least it seemed like it to me. I don't agree with his imprinting on Renesmee. NOT EVERYBODY can have a happy ending. I don't know what Stephenie Meyer was thinking, there. Though I question Renesmee's *being* in the first place, I thought that her talent was cool. I liked it. I also liked Bella's. I loved the fact that, in the end, Edward could finally know what she was thinking. So I'm still undecided on whether I liked the book or not. The plot wasn't terrible, at least. The Volturi part may have been drawn out longer than necessary, as I thought there was too much back-and-forth stuff going on, but I was happy when Alice came back to end it, ha. I think the thing that bothered me the most was Bella's character change. And Jacob's. EDWARD on the other hand FINALLY became REALISTIC. The things Meyer did to him in the first two books ruined his character, trying to make him appealing by making him unpredictable and a "bad boy," which Edward clearly is not. So I'm happy with Edward. I also payed careful attention to Edward and Bella's relationship. I saw Bella being able to make more choices of her own, less of the "abusive" side of him. So I'm satisfied, there. If only Bella's non-doormat-ness could have appeared in the other books as well as this one. XD Well, there. There's my opinion. I think I'd give the final book a tentative 7/10. But I don't think any more than that. Basically, there needed to be less happy endings, since that is absolutely *not* realistic, and Bella and Jacob (well, in the second half for Jacob) needed to be more in character. AND Jacob needed to NOT imprint on Nessie. While it's adorable that he wanted to protect her, he could have done it from a more "uncle" kind of position. Stephenie didn't need to do that. All around, it looks like Breaking Dawn wasn't very well recieved... Sorry for giving you a whole review, heh, I copied and pasted this from another question I answered. But I agree with points 20, 22, 23, and 27.

haha holy crap im extremely opinionated but this is alot more than i would write hahaha i agree with most of it first- bella was EXTREMELY out of character not doubt about it jacob imprinting on nessie???? thats sick and utterly disgusting and he all the sudden forgets about bella in all three books he tries and tries to get bella to love him and leave edward, and then he doesnt care? explain please and then it felt extremely weird when bella turns into the vampire and shes completely okay? like how can you live for nineteen years and suddenly turn into a vampire with no problem? stephenie meyer didnt explain anything she didnt explain how she got used to not eating, or not sleeping or not breathing?? it doesnt make sense i skipped over all that stupid explaining over all those characters in the end. it was completely unnecessary and boring i hated the way bella acted after becoming vampire. she was completely not herself! i was so disappointed and it sucked alot the story could have been soo much better too because in the last books bella and edward go through danger and thrilling situations and in this one she just gets pregnant? could the story get any more boring? i couldnt love nessie, because she was killing bella and hurting edward. it was all so wrong OH YEAH and bella is nineteen!!! how can she have a baby and become a vampire without getting overwhelmed that shes only nineteen? ridiculous i just wished she would pop out and be like AHH KIDDING! heres the real breaking dawn! i actually liked the ending. it reminded me of the happy times in past books.

t feels like there are so many relationships that just disappeared and so many times that Stephenie just got lazy and didn't feel like explaining. 1. It would have been so much better if Carlisle pulled his usual move and came up with a scientific possibility for Renesmee. Like "it seems that we have been adjusting to a more human-like form and we are no longer the typical vampire yada yada." Except more developed of course. 2. Why was there the need for so much built up suspense for J. Jenks? Lame! She could've just said get some papers so your child can flee. Or something. I felt like Jenks was going to be some super vampire or someone who kills Volturi members or something a little more spectacular. 3. What happened to all the relationships. a) Bella and Edward.... I mean yeah they like having SEX a lot or something but they don't really seem to have their connection anymore. b) Despite Jacob's awkward reassurances, after Renesmee is born they aren't really best friends any more. In fact they seem as far from possible. Sometimes Bella accepts Jake as a possible protector for Renesmee but other than that she doesn't give 2 craps about him. c) Except for the wedding it's like Alice and Bella aren't even friends anymore. 4. The whole series I was expecting the whole turning of Bella to be a more sensual experience. Like Edward gets one last taste of the most delicious blood, etc. 5. I hate Renesmee. 6. There wasn't really a climax. Someone should have died. 7. Yeah what was the random diamond about. And why did she Have to put it on. And why did she HAVE to just toss it to Renesmee. The whole scenario is just useless and wasteful.

I’m not sure of how I feel about Breaking Dawn. It was good but still disappointing for me. I completely agree that Bella was not herself from the very beginning. I felt like the entire novel was based on trying to please all of the fans. Stephenie Meyer’s success in the last three novels was in the characters that she portrayed and in Breaking Dawn all of the characters were flat and not themselves especially Bella. Jacob was in character for most of the book and that is why I liked him the most. I never really liked Jacob but now I understand from his point of view. He was the most three dimensional character. There was barely any action in the book at all. I was excited when the werewolves wanted to attack the Cullen’s because from then it would get more exciting. But they didn’t. And I wish that there would have been a more intense fight against the Volturi. I’m glad that SM wrote a happy ending but for there to be a happy ending, there had to be some sacrifice. I was hoping someone close to Bella would die. 1) Yeah, I’m surprised that Alice didn’t throw a party for her because that’s just plain Alice. 2) I agree with you. Why would SM mention the Denali clan so much in the last three books and they weren’t even involved that much in the novel. And then I read about how SM was inspired by a Midsummer’s Night’s dream which is about crossed lovers. Then I thought there were going to be drama about Edward, Tanya, Bella, and Jacob. 3) The story was used for future reference but it was bad timing. 4) The wedding ceremony was absolutely beautiful. SM described every little detail perfectly. SM made me wishing to be there as a family member or friend watching them getting married. Actually I would rather be Bella (Team Edward!). 5) Mmmm cake. 6) When Jacob showed up to the wedding, I was like ahh! But it was nice of him to be protective of Bella. 7) I thought that Isle Esme was nice. It was romantic for Bella and Edward. And since we are talking about the Cullens, it is more expectant to have an island rather than a vacation to Hawaii. We all know how extravagant the Cullens can get. 8) Bella was completely out of character! It was so upsetting! And I completely agree with you how she completely forgot about her argument with Jacob at the wedding. Her real character would be constantly worrying about it and be troubled about how she made Jacob feel. 9) This is one of the only times that Bella was in her character.. Being anxious and nervous about herself. 10) The morning after with Bella and Edward was cute. 11) Eating eggs was probably associated with her pregnancy. Pregnant women have cravings! 12) I know! Why would sex be the reason for her to stall from becoming a vampire. She wanted to become one for all of these months and sex is the reason for her to wait longer?! 13) The cleaning crew part was odd. 14) I was shocked as well because Stephenie kept repeating that but oh well, something we have to deal with. 15) Haha, I like your quote but you’re completely on point. 16) Bella’s change in her personality and how she wasn’t in character at all makes up most of my disappointment for the book. I started a like in Jacob as well. I didn’t like him at all in Eclipse but he was the only character in Breaking Dawn that was himself. But it was weird.. he was completely and overly obsessive for Bella in the last three books. He showed his love for her up until she conceived Renesmee. Yeah I know he imprints on Renesmee but still it was like POOF ok see ya later Bella. 17) Haha, I thought it was cute. 18) OMG, I was utterly shocked when I read this. I was like you have to be kidding me, there were definitely other options. Edward would never consider this option which is why you are right and how SM showed Edward out of his character as well. 19) Rosalie is so selfish. She never cared about Bella dying; she only wants her baby. Rosalie annoyed me a lot but I loved the little fights with Jacob. You. Got. Food. In. My. Hair. 20) I completely agree! 21) OMG, I thought I was the only one. I had to reread the italicized parts a lot because I kept getting confused. 22) Team Leah! I thought she was going to be a bigger part of the novel because she was in the epilogue of Eclipse. Like I thought Jacob was going to imprint on her or something like that. I don’t know. 23) Haha I agree with you entirely. It’s really not that hard to figure out what vampires like to eat. Completely ridiculous. 24) Agreed, but it wasn’t that annoying, well to me it wasn’t. 25) I was shocked. Bella should have struggled a little bit since she hated blood and was always nauseated by it. It would have been really difficult for her to drink it. SM should have explained that. Once again, Bella is not in her character. 26) I was glad there was tension between the wolves but it should have led somewhere. SM included no action in this book so some wolf action would have nice. Better than nothing. 27) The blonde jokes were funny and the dog food bowl was my favorite. You. Got. Food. In. My. Hair. LOL. 28) Yeah that’s true. 29) “A fountain of blood” That part disgusted me because I pictured it in my head and was like Ew gross! I agree – I was like where the hell is Carlisle?! Why would he care about his hunger at a crisis like this! Bella is conceiving a human vampire and she’s suffering so much pain, where the hell are you going Carlisle?? 30) I’m not sure.. I don’t know. 31) I think the name is pretty. A little long. I like the name Nessie. 32) I was surprised that Jacob imprinted on Renesmee but not really like angrily shocked. But I knew this was just another reason for SM to please all of her fans. To make them all happy. I agree that it shouldn’t have been a fairy tale. I wish she wouldn’t care about making all of her fans happy. Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse were great; she wasn’t as pressured writing them as she was for Breaking Dawn because this novel was the most anticipated out of all of them. 33) This was the major question for this novel. Will Bella turn into a vampire? And she did halfway through the novel.. so what will happen later? Practically all of our questions were answered. 34) It made me so upset that she as a newborn had no trouble for eating other humans. Well she did have a little trouble, but why did everything come at ease? 35) Bella is not the same. She should be more hesitant, more afraid, more worried, but she’s just not the same. 36) I wish SM would have written points where Edward, Bella, and Renesmee as like a family. Like their special moments together. When there was a picture of all three in Renesmee’s locket.. I just wondered like when did they even take that picture because it occurred to me that they all three never had those touching times together. 37) Agreed, but I would have freaked out too if my best friend just imprinted on 3 day old daughter. 38) Haha. We all knew there would be sex scenes, and how awkward would it be to have it in the Cullens house. Thank God Esme got her a love shack for them because how awkward would it be for Edward and Bella having sex in the same house and for everyone else who has vampire hearing to hear it as if they were in the same room?! 39) Agreed. He wouldn’t have been so nonchalant about Jake as a werewolf. The contacts were so predictable too. 40) I like the name Carlie 41) I knew Bella was going to beat Emmett. 42) The humungous diamond necklace would completely irrelevant. There should have been a meaning from this. 43) Agreed. She should have heard Renesmee’s heartbeat. But I guess she was so upset that she jumped to conclusions right away running away immediately. 44) There were way too many of them to keep up with. 45) Eh, I guess so. 46) Agreed. 47) I know!! I was like this is definitely going no where. I was so excited that she went back to the cottage to find the address in name because she would find something soo interesting. But it was just to make documents. I wish she would have stumbled upon something really important along the way. That would have made it much more exciting. 48) I agree. 49) I liked the shielding power. But I wish it would break off during the Volturi attacks. I wish someone would have gotten hurt or something. The ending was too perfect. 50) Very true. 51) I never thought of them like that. Sue is just helping him and cooking food for him. Nothing more.. 52) They are cute, and didn’t go anywhere with the story. 53) I thought it was really sad when Bella was saying bye to Renesmee. At that point, all she knew was that she was going to die so I couldn’t help but feel her pain of knowing her soon death and never seeing her daughter. 54) I liked that too. They created the atmosphere. 55) I think the Volturi can hear Renesmee’s heartbeat. They just wanted to battle against them anyway. 56) Shape-lifters? Okay, definitely unnecessary! Who really cares? 57) Haha, agreed. 58) Garrett’s speech was really nice. I just wished they would have battled or something.. Just someone get hurt so everything doesn’t have to be perfect already! 59) Haha I know! But I can understand that they feel like they just almost lost their soul mate so I can see why they reacted this way. Never pictured Rosalie and Emmett kissing ‘passionately’ though. Haha. 60) I loved Alice. She will always be my favorite character. 61) Happy Ending? Completely unrealistic. Don’t even get me started. Overall, the Twilight Saga is my favorite book series. Breaking Dawn was a good book but still disappointing in some ways. I’m so sad that the series is complete and finished. Listen to Arcade Fire – No Cars Go. It’s a great song. Stephenie Meyer is an excellent writer and is my favorite author.

Wow, I can really say you did point out many things that I have not noticed. :) (SPOILERS AHEAD DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED) Here is my opinion on the book: 1) I was disappointed with how fast the wedding went by. I mean, I was like, "What the hell? Only like 20 pages into it and they already tied the knot?! It's so unreal!" Yes, it did seem fanfiction-ish that it pissed me off for a moment. 2) Esme Isle was sweet, and I loved how Steph described their time there, but what the heck is with the eggs? I know eggs are great and it's probably Bella just craving it due to her pregnancy...but whatever happened to other human foods? 3) Feathers. Wow, I loved that. :) But I'm surprised Edward literally didn't break her with all those bruises on her. And wtf? Isn't he supposed to be protecting her? Why did he let her seduce him and just hurt her again? AND EVER HEARD OF PROTECTION??? I mean, every couple who don't want kids would use it. Why didn't they think of that? Even if Edward supposedly is not supposed to "reproduce". 4) I think the reason why Steph makes Bella so compassionate for this baby that's killing her is because that's how mothers are. For a moment it made me think of how mothers react to having a child inside them and I kind of understood why Bella acted like she did in the book. Now I was surprised when she found blood good, but I believe that was because of Renesmee. 5) While Renesmee is a unique, cute name. It really is a mouthful and "Nessie" is quite cuter. 6) I LOVE Jake in this book! The chapter titles really are so Jake and he was just amazing! It was great to get inside his head and see part of the story from his POV. It almost made me convert to Team Jacob, until of course Jacob started to his soulmate-searching. And while I was a little surprised his partner turns out to be Renesmee, I thought it was cute. What got me though was how the pack accepted it so easily. I mean, sure, he imprinted, but that baby is HALF-VAMPIRE? Doesn't that technically mean it's forbidden? No matter what, it's still an enemy! 7) Bella's transformation description was just how I would imagine it would be. But when she suddenly showed she was newborn with ease I got confused. I mean, it was fanfiction-ish, and I know Bella is "special" but she can't be that special can she? She should at least struggle with being a vampire in some way. And what happened to her clumsiness? Total character flip when she's a vampire. I mean, as a vampire, she's even more graceful than the Cullens! And she's better than them and they've been doing this for centuries while she was only a couple of months! How is the possible? 8) Seth and Leah in the book are adorable and I'm glad we got to see their character development a little more. Leah is totally awesome! And the whole separate from the pack thing was great to! :) I've always wanted to see Sam beat in some kind of way, so I was laughing my head off when Jacob showed he had more power. 9) Where were the Cullens? Throughout the whole entire story I barely saw Emmett, Jasper, Alice, Esme (especially her), and Carlisle! It's like the vanished from the entire plot entirely! They barely talked, barely got involved. I wanted more Emmett-Bella brother/sister moments, more Jasper-Bella brother/sister moments. And Alice! Gosh, I thought she'd be more involved. 10) A lot of things sometimes contradicted stuff from the earlier novels. Like how the treaty was like the law? But then all of sudden you can just bend it and forget it's even there? I mean come on, the pack should be a little more strict! And where the hell are all the new wolves coming from??? They're can't be too many with the same genetics if there were only a little bit to start with! 11) I actually like Renesemee and find her adorable at times. But she can also be irritating. She practically kills her own mother and still Bella loves her. I was glad that Jacob hated her for that (and then imprinted with her). How can people just forget that she was the cause of Bella's pain? And she's so spoiled and acts like an innocent little angel! It's irritating that this kid can do no evil! -.- 12) It was fun to see more vampires, but we barely even got to know them! The Denali clan was awesome, but there character development was all foggy, like they were still a mystery as they were in Eclipse. We hear about them, but we know nothing about them! And while other characters were great, they were not explored enough for us to get to know them on a personal level. And some of them didn't even talk! They were only there for show! 13) Wow, we get to meet J. Jenks and while I personally like him, he's barely explored as a character too. And then he turns out to be useless when Renesmee and Jacob don't run! What was even the use? You don't need to be Alice to see that they'll win. And there's another thing, some things in the book were so predictable that I was disappointed to see I was right. I like to be right, but I like it even more when I'm surprised with a twist. 14) Bella's shield is awesome, but seeing how easily she handled it during the face-off with the Volturi was totally unrealistic. She had so much trouble earlier with it, why is she not struggling now? Why is she some almighty vampire that can't be stopped? Come on Steph, she's not that perfect! 15) I also love Nahuel, but we barely get to know him too. :( And his story was so...easy. I can't believe the Volturi just bought it! Just because Nahuel is like that, it means Renesmee will be the same? Why didn't the Voltuir question the truth in his words? True, he was honest, but it just didn't seem like the Volturi. It was like suspense action and then rush ending. 16) The happy ending is...ugh, so happy! I love the ending, but it just made me go "WTF? That's it?" Not enough of the suspense and action we had the first 3 books. :( It was just romance, fluff, a little suspense thrown in here and there, and that's it. But overall, I enjoyed the book and will reread it again. While I am kind of disappointed in some things, I think Meyer finished off the series quite nicely. And yes, although it is a little fanfiction-ish, I'm not mad at her for that. I think she just wanted to give the fans what they wanted. ^^ I appreciate her love for her fans. Oh, I forgot this earlier, but I also did not like the whole "Irina-tattled-on-us" thing. I mean, she was so close to them, how could she not see that Renesmee was not an immortal child? If Bella could see her and hear her, then Irina could certainly hear Renesmee!
