What's the Da Vinci Code?

What is the accuracy of Da Vinci´s Code facts?

  • Answer:

The Da Vinci Code is a fictional novel containing only an entertaining plot... no proven facts. There ARE organizations such as Opus Dei and some historical aspects that are mentioned in the novel that are true, but that does not make the novel a non-fiction piece. The novel basically says that Jesus was just a mortal human being, not God. Now, since I am a Christian, I do not base my beliefs on a novel, especially this one; I base them on the Bible. I have heard many stories of how people have changed their beliefs because of this book and even of colleges that use this book as a textbook to prove how corrupt Christianity is. This is clearly wrong and does not make any sense because there is no FACT involved so they are not proving anything. This is all happening because Dan Brown tries to imply that the words he wrote are true, and this gives people an excuse to base their beliefs on it.

The Da vinci code is an elaborate tale which is quite entertaining in a totally hollywood take on various strange occurrences that keep appearing in the works of Leonardo Da Vinci. It features various unfounded references to events that are alleged to have occur ed throughout history relating to the holy grail also embellishing on theories put forward in another book which tries to prove that the said Holy Grail is actually a descendant of Jesus himself. As well as tarnishing the reputation of a respectable organization named Opus Dei who incidentally have never been known to murder or plot to murder anyone in Gods name as the book tries to imply. So as to your question how accurate are the facts the answer not at all this is a good read if you like adventure/mystery titles but don't expect it to be accurate as this was not the authors intention.

Well he confuses 4th Century AD with 400 AD, so let's just say that his interest was in telling a good story not with providing a historical record.

Remember at all times - when you buy this book it is under the "Fiction" section -- enough said?

though i have not read the book, my family did and other then it not making any sense and being incredibly predictable, Darren Brown is possibly being sued for plagerism and if he felt so strongly about what he writes, then surely he would habe used some imagination.

The facts appear to be confusion and without evidence. Most of this events where documented around the time that Spain discovered the new americas. I not a historian or a scholar in religion. However I have a gut feelling that there tied together some how with the discovery of the new americas. I dont have the money to investigate thow

It's a work of fiction and publishers don't pay for fact checkers anymore. Do the math.
