Did people make paper airplanes before airplanes were invented?

I'm assuming the technology for paper airplanes existed before airplanes... but if they made them, what did they call them? O_O

That's a very interesting question, I never thought of it before. I ahd a look on wikipiedia, and it seems that Leonardo da Vinci talked about making a paper plane. A man called Gerogey Cayle, who is known as the Father of Aviation, built the first successful glider in the early 19th century, and he experimented with paper models of gliders.
