Why was Arab empire successful?

Why did the british empire carve out countries on the arab lands of the defeated ottoman empire ?

  • Answer:

    1. The Ottoman empire had ceased to exist as a result of the War so 'something' had to be put there. 2. The Arabs wanted their countries back free of the Turks (Ottomans) and Britain had promised to draw up Arab countries because the Arabs had helped the British during the War.

The Ottomans allied themselves to the German\Austrian side during the conflict, and were defeated. At The Treaty of Versailles talks in France in 1919 the Ottomans were punished for their loss by ceding parts of their lands to the British (Palestine) and the French (Syria and Lebanon).
