The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor which brought us into the war in the Pacific theater. The sneak attack practically destroyed our entire Pacific fleet. If the Japanese then proceeded to attack the US mainland on the West Coast, we would have been defenseless. Roosevelt called it "A day of infamy." Chow!!
