Does anyone know what freebies people got during WW2...i think mothers got free milk and there was other stuff

I know that people were on rations and they were given vouchers to shop with, but whether anything was free I don't really know. My Mum used to tell me lot's about the second world war and I have also been to Eden Camp in Malton, Yorkshire which is extremely informative. Try a search for vouchers during WW2 and see if you have any luck with that. Sorry I can't help any more than this but good luck with the essay.

if you were in the army you used to get free cigarettes in your ration pack cant think of anything else unless you include the ration book which gave you ration sugar and flour and other house hold necessity's

Children got free milk at school, milk was not rationed nor bread, potatoes , fresh veg etc people used to keep chickens for their egg supply, anything that had to be imported by ship was severely rationed , meat pork butter margarine cooking fat lard clothing and furniture were all on ration, we used to get ration books , one for each family member supplied by the ministary of food, again children of school age, ( up to 14 yrs) were given extra coupons.
