The 1947 PARTITION OF INDIA?

the purpose of partition was not as u think, of leaving the Muslims from their land, nor of framing any Hindu state.The Muslims here in India are living in their own country.They are Indian-Muslims. Hindus had nothing to gain or loose in the process of partition.The historical partition was a political compulsion and nobody except few vested interest was in favour of partition.The mistake of the past can be rectified in the coming years.

yep, that was the basic idea......although there were what? 5 million killed in the first Indo-Pakistan War of 1947? a lot of Indian Muslims didn't want to leave India....the area now know as Pakistan was a foreign country to someone living in central India.........why leave where their families had been for ages, especially with the Indian government promising tolerance?

First of all you open yourself to all kinds of responses when you go on a public forum. So there is no point try controlling something that cannot be controlled. Secondly, your P.S. doesn't look like you mean anything but controversy to erupt and wash your hands off of it. You know the answers to your questions. My response to your question is that it was not for anyone's benefit but for the one who split the then existing country whatever shape and size it was. The Brits did not inherit it nor it was a business contract that is usually has both sides' interest protected. It was arbitrary and opportunistic. We could go into the details, but read up on the history of Europe before the first world war. The 100 Year War, and The Thirty Year War, followed by the two world wars, and still the wars in Europe. Now we have wars in all three corners of the country after the so called partition. Who supports these wars and who gets the ammunition to these "peace loving" people to butcher, murder is for you to figure out. I am sorry if I have distracted you but you asked a question that is irrelevant as the direct answer is dead ended. We may want to ask What Now ?

The Hindus never gained anything from anybody. Invasion of India was rampant in the ancient times due to disunity of the Raja's, who would sell their mother for the thrown. This tradition is now carried forward by the so called "Netas", [politicians], for their vested interested. Unless and until Hindus rid their own differences we would not gain anything at any time. The partition was a farce, didn't serve the purpose millions of people died for.

The Partition was not meant to give equality, it was meant to separate India on communal lines, and it was the British who started this, so that the National Movement would be weakened India's leaders knew that equality was the only way towards freedom. Thus, they invited all religions to come and be part of the SECULAR Union. I cannot begin to enter this discussion due to my lack of knowledge on the subject. What I can do is compliment all of you for a civilized discussion on a complicated subject that has great emotional impact. It seems that it was a time of partitions. N. Korea and S. Korea, East Germany and West Germany, East and West Berlin. And then there was the movement of an entire nation westward as with Poland who lost land to the East and gained land from former Germany. But in fact it is never quite that clean. Separating families and old cultural ties is gut wrenching.

The percentages look great because Pak had a lesser population. While criticizing Muslims, don't forget how badly lower castes Hindus have traditionally been treated by Upper caste Hindus in India, because of which many of whom (the Lower Caste Hindus) converted to Islam. Also, don't forget Mughals ruled India as their own country even though they were Muslims. Many of the Mughal kings had Hindu wives and mothers and appointed their Hindu relatives to high position. Mughals made India the richest country in the world under their rule. Muslim rulers like Tipu Sultan and Siraj ud daulah are admired by Hindus and Muslims alike. The problem is with hindu mentality. Muslims in India are as Indian , but Hindus want to treat them as B class citizens. You want them to leave, instead of listening to their problems and taking concrete measures to solve those. Why is it that the drainage system, roads, electricity supply etc in a Muslim dominated locality of any city the worst? Why is it that Muslim students do not get a fair chance in university programs? Why is it that your brotherly hood , discriminates Muslims in jobs? why? Hindus want them to migrate to Pakistan and Bangladesh. But , Muslims will not leave just because Hindus want them to leave. Hindus have made them one of the most resilient community on the face of earth, thank you. And for your kind information, the world is not blind. It sees what goes on in your backyard. The most balanced perception of a Hindu Muslim conflict, you will get from a Muslim who is also Indian, but u always charge them and hold them to prove their loyalty towards their motherland .... very poor treatment of your Muslim brothers and sisters.
