What is fantasy football?

I'm a total Rookie!!!! What do i need to do with my Fantasy Football Team?

  • I just completed my first Fantasy football draft EVER. Here is the roster I drafted. ( I was pick 9 out of 10). the format is 1 QB, 3 WR, 2 RB, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF, and 6 Bench slots. 4 pts for passing touchdown, and yahoo! standard rules. QB - Marc Bulger WR - Larry Fitzgerald, Laveranues Coles, Vincent Jackson. RB - Shaun Alexander, Ronnie Brown TE - Tony Gonzalez K - Shayne Graham DEF - San Diego Bench - Chris Chambers (WR), Brandon Jackson (RB), Jake Delhomme (QB), Matt Jones (WR), Greg Olsen (TE), DeShaun Foster (RB). What should I look out for? I see that everyone is dropping Matt Jones. He's my 5th WR. should I drop him too? I'm a total novice at fantasy football, What is going to blindside me if I am not paying attention? Thanks for the help!

The best advice I have for you and people don't usually figure this out until a season or two into it. Draft players by looking at the match ups during your playoff weeks. If you are deciding between players, make the final decision based on who they face during the playoffs. does you no good if you blow people away during the "regular season" then your studs go against Baltimore and Chicago in your playoffs. Point on your team: look at Ronnie Brown. I avoided him on purpose this year. He plays Balt and NE on week 15 and 16 - key playoff spots. How do you fix this? scan who your backups are plahying and plan accordingly. Or make a trade when Brown is hot and going through the easy part of his schedule. So, the blindside is the defensive match ups. It is SO key and people truly don't get it. I started wininng when I figured that out. Oh, and Matt Jones is being dropped because of his history and a recent write up. I have him on the bench of one of my teams and I will keep him for now. No use in dumping him and pickng up another bench player. Another person I would trade when he is hot is Vincent Jackson. A lot is being hyped about him. But check out this stat: In 16 seasons as a head coach or offensive coordinator, Norv Turner has had two 1,000-yard pass catchers in one season only once. Michael Westbrook and Albert Connell both had more than 1,000 yards in 1999. In fact, Turner has had even one 1,000-yard receiver only nine of those 16 seasons, and three of the nine were Michael Irvin. And now he has Tomlinson. I'm guessing Antonio Gates will get 1,000 yards, but that's it. So, if Jackson goes off for a couple of weeks, I would trade him while his "stock" is high. as for the rest of your team, I think your RB backup's are a little weak and iffy. They could work out, but the downside risk is pretty high in my opinion. Also, my technique if I have a top 5 QB like Bulger, I don't even carry a backup. I stash as many RB and WR on my bench to see who can get hot. when I need a QB for a bye week, I would dump my weakest player and pick up a QB for just the one week. No backup you have is going to play over Bulger, so this strategy works well. Hope all that makes sense. email if you have other questions during the season or whatever.

Not a bad team, I've been doing fantasy since 2001. Here's my thoughts. Your RB's scare me a little, SA should bounce back, but he's injury prone, Ronnie Brown will be splitting carries a little and Cam Cameron doesn't seem too impressed so far by Brown. The rest of your team is pretty good, I'd drop Jones and Olsen. Olsen is a good sleeper but he just hurt his knee and it'll probably limit him. Keep an eye out, if he's out, he'll be worthless in fantasy. As long as your RB's stay healthy you'll be fine, I'd watch the waiver wire for break out RB's and maybe work a trade to someone who lacks WR depth since you have good depth. For example you could trade Fitzgerald and Foster for A. Green and Plaxico Burress....something from those tiers....you'll improve a bit on your RB and risk the loss on the WR side. Overall I'd say you're about a 3rd-6th place depending on injuries. a couple good moves and you'll be competing on the final week!

I would definitely drop Greg Olsen. You can pick up a tight end on Gonzo's bye week and Olsen's not the starter in Chicago anyway. As far as the rest of your team, I'd look for some WR depth behind your starters. I'd hang onto Jones, but I'd drop Olsen and consider David Patten, Brandon Marshall, Drew Bennett, Anthony Gonzalez, Kevin Curtis, Bryant Johnson, Arnaz Battle, D.J. Hackett. Read through some of these "WR Sleeper" threads and you'll get some more names: http://www.110football.com/2007/08/18/2007-fantasy-football-sleepers-and-busts/ http://www.fantasyfanatics.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=534 http://www.cbs.sportsline.com/mcc/messages/chrono/3645060

Larry Johnson is My Dad

Chambers sucks, Foster puts me to sleep, Matt jones is getting ***** slapped to the bottom of the reciever corp, Olsen hurt himself during the last prreseason game. Pick up Sapp from denver. Northcutt from JAQ, Desmond Clark could help out for awhile. Look for hidden talent, aka sleepers. Follow the injury reports like a porn mag and anticipate team movement to replace those injured players!!

u need better depth at WR for sure. Trade some of these bench players for some moderate players

Neil Rackers, look for him on waivers or thorugh trades, very good. TG for Heap, he'll accept it, take it.
