How To Play Nfl Madden 2012?

Should I play fantasy football in 2012?

  • I have been in my current fantasy league for the better part of 8 years and am good friends with almost every guy in the league and know them all very well. I have been successful and generally enjoyed the game and camraderie. However, this last year was a complete mess. My team was very unlucky, league members were unnecessarily rude towards me, and I stopped watching and caring about the NFL. The game is a joke now. You can't even play defense legally anymore. It's not the NFL I grew up watching and that's very disappointing. It also makes fantasy football lose a lot of its appeal. I haven't seen a NFL game since Thanksgiving (or a real one since the 2004 Super Bowl). Anyway, I told my commissioner (who is also one of my best friends) that I am leaning towards "retiring" from the league. It was met with a lot of disappointment and generally assertions that my presence is one of the ones that makes the league fun- I try hard to win and put my best foot forward for the league annually....until last year. He made a compelling argument to stay, but I really cannot stand the NFL. I like the camraderie and brotherhood of the league but I hate the game. Like I said, I like the guys I play against, I just don't like the game anymore. It's a crapshoot, extremely frustrating, and the league's resistance to innovation irritates me beyond belief. So I ask you, should I play again in 2012, or just call it quits and get my fall Sundays back?

  • Answer:

Honestly, why would I (or anyone else) care if you played fantasy football in 2012? You haven't liked the NFL in 7 years... but only after your team was a mess are you thinking about quitting? So quit. You can't take the loss, then leave. All of the changes to the league have lead to increased fantasy football scores and interest. I'll guess you didn't have Cam Newton last year.

I think you have to like NFL football to enjoy fantasy football. But, without being a member of the league you won't have the connection to your friends. I say quit and act as a neutral commissioner for your league.

It sounds like you need to take a break...do something more valuable with your time. After playing for 4 years I am considering doing the same. Last year I had 5 teams, won with 3 of them, but took a lot of time I could have been more productive doing other things. All the best...

Is it for money? If not then do it, whats the difference, put together a team of whomever and let it roll.
