What is fantasy football? How does it work? ?

I've played football for 13 years, but for some unknown reason I've never had a fantasy football account. Can someone help? I want to get into this. What are the best free sites? I was thinking about Yahoo Fantasy Football. Is that any good? Can someone just help explain it a bit? Thanks!

Fantasy football is over,leagues are formed prior to each real season,and fantasy leagues end at the same time the real league ends. Right now baseball fantasy leagues are forming.There are free & money league options.I like Yahoo leagues the best.Go to yahoo' main sports page,and click "play fantasy baseball",or something like that. Then you'll get to pick a pro,custom,or public league.Pro costs money to play,but the other ones are mostly free.Other choices you'll have is head to head,or roto (I like head to head.),live,or auto pick draft (I'd pick live draft),snake or auction draft (I like snake drafts),then you'll join a specific league & choose your team name. Fantasy compiles stats from players you draft,and matches them against other opponents in your league..It's a fun & addicting hobby.I play it year round with NFL,MLB,& NBA fantasy teams. GL
