What is a hybrid? whats the difference between a hybrid?

Whats the difference of using hybrid strings and just using one kind?

  • Im planning in restringing my racket.they sell sets of strings that are in a hybrid. i dont what would be the difference (power,comfort,control..etc)??? would you recomend it or is it something you have to get used to.

  • Answer:

If you break strings alot, go with a hybrid -- poly string in the mains and syn gut in the crosses. The theory is that you can hit hard from the baseline and the ball will not "fly" since the poly is for control. If your balls fly, and you hit hard, I would consider a hybrid to tame that control. The problem with a fully poly vs a hybrid is that a full poly is hard on the tennis elbow and doesn't give you much power or touch. Some guys that rely on the volley, often don't like a hybrid since it doesn't have as much touch as a full syn or natural gut string. If you are not a string breaker, go with a single mono or multi. Doesn't take much time getting used to. Go to Tennis Warehouse message boards and you can find alot of info under strings and stringing. Good luck.
