Why USA Call Their Game as “WORLD CUP”?
-
USA plays ‘BASE BALL’ or ‘American-Football’ pretty much with one State with another Sate (e.g. Texas Vs. New York). I don’t see a second Country to participate in it. Still why do they call their game as “WORLD CUP"? “WORLD CUP” definition does not seem to work, if a second country does not participate in it. You must have seen what exactly mean by “WORLD CUP”, from recent FIFA “WORLD CUP”. Why don’t you call “US – CUP” or “US NATIONAL CHAMPION CUP”? That sounds more ‘Appropriate’ word to me. N.B. In Italy, Spain, England everywhere they have “Zonal” or “Club Champion” like US (Broncos, Jets, and Yankees). They do Not Consider “AC Milan’s or Real Madrid’s victory as World Cup’.

Answer:
Well it is true when was the last time America was World Champion at anything? You can say they are world champions in American Football because they are the best at it but so are the Australians in their form of Football and you don't see them calling themselves "World Champions." (Which in fact Australians refer to American Football as Sissy Football compared to their Rugby Football) The only World Champions considered right now are Italians considering they did beat the rest of world including the United States. Even that when you see NFL and NBA doesn't that stand for NATIONAL Football League/ NATIONAL Basketball Association? So does that mean they are National Basketball and World Basketball Champions even though they just play city against city, so how can they be World Champions whey they have not played another country. Last I heard wasn't that Yugoslavia while Argentina finishing second in the 2002 World Championship? Sure you have the best players in the world playing in NBA both foreign and american, but that's what happens when you have a league with so much money you attrack the best players in the world, just look at the NY Yankees or Real Madrid. I guess it is just the feeling of arrogance when you have a sport like American Football that the americans care passionatly but the rest of the world don't give 2 sh*ts about, and last I heard United States was part of this world.

The Americans are arrogant. They only play with themselves within the US, yet they keep calling their league champions as "World Champion", yet when it comes to the real World Cup and becoming a real "World Champion" as in soccer, they suck big time. Hahahhaha.

We don't call it "World Cups" but call the winners "world champs" from time to time. The Superbowl is the tops in football, The NBA Championship, The Stanley Cup. The only thing that this applies to is baseball, where we call it the World Series and it has been that way since the beginning of baseball when no other countries played the game. There is still the possibility of canada playing in the World Series (Toronto Blue Jays) and of course, in hockey, is Canada and US teams in the National Hockey League. But that is just the name... like, the World Series of Poker, or the "World Cup of Extreme Ironing".

Hahahhaha." - First of all, you're absolutely and completely wrong. Ever heard of the Olympics? Yeah, that's international competition, and who's has finished with the highest medal rankings the past several times (Winter AND Summer)? The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. -Second of all, we don't need soccer. We have football. I won't say much more, because it's something that about 1% of America and the rest of the world simply doesn't understand. -Thirdly, what country are you from? If you aren't from America, do you think your country could put together a football team that could beat our Super Bowl winners? Could any country? No. Hence, they are World Champs. That's why there isn't football in the Olymics; it would be laughable, just as it was with the original Dream Team in basketball. But, football will never be allowed in the Olympics. Why? I'm not sure, but I think it has to do with intimidation (need I say more?). I'm not much of a baseball fan, so I won't really go into the World Series; I know Japan has one heck of a league. It would be interesting to see the champs from both leagues square off.

Because americans are self centered. Sorry but losing to México in Baseball world championship? They were no better than others, and great baseball is played everywhere. NBA is the most international league in us sports, so, yes american sports reporters are chauvinistic (they named most of the finals.)

None of the championships in American professional sports is called World Cup. Closest thing to it would be the World Series and it has been called that for 100+ years. So I'm sure where you get your question from...
