How much does it cost to build a Ymca?

How come the Metrodome cost $68 million to build and a new stadium today would cost $1 billion to build?

  • There are things that come into consideration, like inflation, wages have gone up, and other stuff like that. Even without a roof the new stadium would cost $700 million. TCF Bank Stadium, where the Gophers football team plays, only cost $290 million to build. It has only 50,000 seats, but it shouldn't cost much to add 20,000 seats to make it big enough for Vikings games, and putting in a heater for the field doesn't cost much either. TCF Bank Stadium is nice, so I wouldn't mind if the Vikings played in a similar stadium with 20,000 more seats.

The NFL requires certain things when they build a stadium. When you count inflation and union workers, and all extras that they would want/need to "keep up with the Jerry Jones'" In fact, if they build the new stadium on the Metrodome site, they Vikings/NFL would have to dump upwards of 50-100 million (not exact figures) into TCF stadium, just to bring it up to NFL standards. Bare minimum Vikes/State of Minny is looking at 700 million for the new stadium.

Inflation, cost of building supplies, cost of labor, pay offs to government officials are more costly.....
