Can an exchange student to the USA from UK be offered a football scholarship?

• If a student from the UK studied in their Sophomore year in college in the USA coming from an exchange program, would it be possible they could be offered a football scholarship to stay and play football? I've been accepted to spend my 2nd year of university in the USA and am keen to play American Football there. I play back home as RB and would love to play at US college level. Unfortunately, the exchange program limits me to 1 year (Sophomore) in the US, If I impressed coaches enough in that 1 year while playing football, could they offer me something more?
