Would anyone know if NFL players autograph mail ins?Check out my story.?

A long time ago when I was about 11, I was a big football card collector. In a price book there was a letter that a kid sent a football card with a self stamped envelope to the team address for a specific player, months later he recieved it autographed. So I sent at least 20 cards to different players to see if some would come back signed. I recived a little less than half back signed. I wonder though if the players really signed them. I recieved Joe Montana and Troy Aikmans and they look exactly like there signatures that I have seen on other memorabilia plus I have gotten Troy Aikmans autograph in person and it looks exactly like the one I recieved in the mail, they dont look stamped because I also have John Elways and his looks stamped. I know since I have no certificate of authenticity they are pretty much not worth anything but I wouldnt sell them anyway. Would anyone know if they would actually sit down and sign things that were mailed to them?

Answer:
If they took the time to mail it back why wouldn't they have taken the time to sign it? I'm sure they signed them!

I used to do this when I collected cards as a kid, and now my kids do it. I think they do actually sign them. My 10 year old daughter sent one to Brett Favre last year, now I told her she more than likely wouldn't get it back, but about 3 weeks later not only did she get it back autographed, he also wrote her a little letter and "Thank You" note if you will, for being a fan. I would have to say those that you do get back are the real class act guys that understand that without fans they would be unemployed. The ones that don't send them back are the ones that think they would be there with or without us, the fans!

Your best bet would be to email the players. NFLPlayers.com, a website that is managed by the NFL Player association, allows you to send emails or messages to certain players. Once you have this, they can tell you how and where to send your cards for autographs. For example, lets say I want Robbie Gould's autograph, his NFL Players profile (http://www.nflplayers.com/players/player.aspx?id=37722§ion=email ) would allow me to send a message to him in order to enquire about the autograph. This helps ensure that you will send the card to right place. Hope this helps.

I used to do this alot for hockey cards and had a pretty good success rate (70-80%). A couple of them even sent additional cards along with the ones I sent. Send a letter to the player care of the team with a SASE enclosed and I am sure you will have some success. Just remember, the more popular the player is, the longer it's going to take to get them back.
