Why end a play on a cliffhanger?

Would I be a good Defensive End? Which side would I play on?

  • This year, in the 8th grade, I played Defensive Tackle and I honestly was just not the Defensive Tackle type of kid. I was 5'7,159 pounds and benched 145. Now I am 5'11, 187 pounds, bench 168, and I run a 5.1 40. I want to play Defensive End next year, because we have lost both of our star D-Ends and we have plenty of good Defensive Tackles. So, should I play Defensive End my Freshman year? If you say yes, what side would I play on? Would I be a pass-rushing right end or a run-stopping left end?

  • Answer:

We had a strong side defensive end a weakside defensive end. Strong side defesive ends just lined up on the side with most players.. Usually on the TE if he is on the line. I started playing football too in 8th grade. I was a 5'10 165lb offensive tackle and defensive tackle. In high school, I moved to defensive end and started both on the freshman team and sophomore team. Then I moved schools and lost the motivation to continue playing. Your physical stats alone won't dictate what position you'll be good at. Plays a huge factor but it also depends on your skillset and abilities. I was a undersized defensive end. My backup was stronger and bigger than me. However I had good technique and tended to find my way to the ball carrier so I started.
