I know this is really sad but i dont know the rules of football can someone explain them to me?

Basically, the team with the ball has four tries (downs) to move the football at least ten yards. If they are successful, they get to keep the ball and try to move it at least another ten yards with another set of downs (four tries). If they are unsuccessful, the team must punt to the opposing team. Their goal is to move the ball down the field until they make a touchdown (6 points) and kick the extra point through the goal posts or throw for two extra points or get within range to kick a field goal for 3 points instead of the touchdown.

Its not sad. I knew nothing about football when i began to watch it, but as i kept watching i began to learn the rules. It did not take me too long to catch on.

i would love to, but there is simply too many of them. its best to learn by watching the game, thats how i did it.

There's waaaayyyy too many rules to fit in this space. Your best bet, and this is in no way degrading you, is to go buy "Football for Dummies" and read it. Then when you watch a game if you're not sure of something you can just refer to the book. A friend of mine's girlfriend bought the book so she could start watching games with him and said it was quite a bit help with someone who didn't know.
