How To Make Crochet Rings?

Does it drive anybody else crazy when people make judgements on invidual talent solely on rings?

  • I hate when people are so sports uneducated that they make judgements about players solely on rings. Rings are a team award and doesn't measure your individual talent. Of course it's great to have and what you try to get but it's not everything. It's not always a measure of your individual talent. The word "choker, and cluth" are the most overrated and overused terms by sports ignorant people. If rings meant you were better as an individual talent than Joseph Addai would be better than Barry Sanders, and Deion Branch would be better than Chris Carter So does anybody else agree that it drives them crazy when people make judgements solely on rings?

  • Answer:

Rings do count to a degree, but so do the other tangibles that come with skill positions. For instance, is Jim Plunkett (2 SB rings) a better QB than Dan Marino (no rings)? It isn't even close. PLunkett has 2 SB rings and isn't in the HOF for a reason. When measuring the ability of a QB, you have to take in consideration to how that player contributed to the team. Was that QB an important part to that team winning or were there clearly stronger areas that made the team? What were the passing statistics throughout the QB's career and how did he perform in clutch situations? There are just so many things to consider when measuring a QB or any position for that matter. Charlie Batch has 2 SB rings as the Steelers backup QB. Does that make him one of the best backups in history? I think not. Another good example is Ben Roethlisberger. In his first SB, Roehlisberger completed just nine of 21 passes for 123 yards and two interceptions. His passer rating of 22.6 was the lowest in Super Bowl history by a winning quarterback. Doesn't that tell everyone that his teammates were the primary reason they were lucky to win the SB? The defense and running game won that SB and carried the team all season long. This isn't to say that Roethlisberger isn't a good QB, but he is far from being elite because of 2 SB rings. Football is a team sport and to win a championship, it requires the support and playmaking ability of all teammates. Football isn't an individual sport like boxing where it is clear that the skill lies on only one person. Those who believe that Rings are what measure a QB are the same people who have no understanding the importance of an O-line, secondary, D-line, LBs, RBs, Kickers, WRs, coaching, etc. Thumbs up to those who agree.

The conversation we just had, I wasn't basing Kobe being better then Lebron on just the fact the Kobe has more rings. Rings mean something, if rings didn't mean anything the Eagles Franchise would be better then the Steelers, It represents more than physical ability. You have to be mentally strong to win a Super Bowl, YES it's a team sport but rings matter individually. Nobody ever bases someone being better then another because the sole purpose of having more rings, that's dumb. But you can have a debate over who's better between two great players, and include rings in the conversation. Kobe Bryant - 4 Lebron James - 0 Kobe >Lebron. =D

Yes it is annoying. There are alot of average QB`s that have good receivers, that make them look "great". For example, Terry Bradshaw. He has publicly stated that his receivers made him look better than he is. Peyton Manning is another example. He`s one of the best of our generation, yet only has one ring. Just like this year when people called him a choker. He`s not a choker because I`ve seen him get mad at himself towards the end of the final minutes, trying to conduct a comeback. Same thing with Brett Favre. It`s ridiculous to call him a choker, after having such an excellent year, but yet people on here call him one daily. Just because you didn`t win the Superbowl every year, doesn`t mean your a choker.

Very annoying. SB's are won with a team effort. Like I said earlier, Peyton, Farve, Romo, McNabb, Rivers, are 5 of the best QB's every season. yet there is only 2 SB rings between all them. People need to start looking at the actual skills and talents of the players, and not just to how many rings they have.

Not really, because I've never seen it. Some people use rings as tiebreakers, or perhaps put a little too much weight on it... but I've never heard anyone argue that Addai was better than Barry Sanders, or Trent Dilfer better than Dan Marino... therefore I've never heard anyone use rings as their sole judging criteria. Who do you hang out with?

There are plenty of good players with rings and plenty without

Judgments based on rings and nothing else? Yes, completely stupid. However if you're debating on who's better at {insert whatever position/sport here} it doesn't hurt to bring rings/SB wins into the equation. Fact of the matter is that if they weren't important--- it wouldn't be EVERYONES goal EVERY season.

You can't judge it solely on rings, but it should factor in a little bit if you are considered the leader and #1 person on that team. Post Season performance should also factor in and post season stats.

GZA, ARIZA, and ODB

True. But when people talk about quarterbacks they always talk about Joe Montanas 4 rings and Tom Brady's 3. Ask any quarterback what it's all about. Not the individual talents and achievements, but the rings.
