How do I tell my parents I don't want to play football next year?

  • I'm a sophmore in high school and next week training for football next year starts but I don't really enjoy or like it anymore. I have played football all of my life and my parents love watching me play too. Also, I started at linebacker for varsity this year and I'm unsure as how my coach is going to take it and if he'll be pissed at me for quitting. But, I really don't have fun anymore with football and it seems like I'm just getting pushed into it because I have talent in it. How should I tell my parents and coach that I don't really want to play anymore?

    When I quit baseball after playing it for a while I just said, "I don't feel like playing it anymore." Though if you're good at football you gotta think of the possibilities. You could get a scholarship for it somewhere. SO many people would love to trade places with you.

tell them the truth that you feel forced to play and that you dont want to play anymore they should understand they're your parents.

Start out by telling them you are gay. Then tell them you were only joking, but you don't want to play football anymore. They will be so relieved, they won't give you any grief.

It sounds extremely cheesy to give advise like this, but just tell them what you said in this question. You don't enjoy it anymore. That's the important thing.

Seriously, if it was me and I am 33 now...I would go into the living room and say ...hey, I am not playing football next year because I hate it...dont try and fight me on this...and leave the room.
