Basketball Shooting Help?

Help with basketball shooting form?

  • i'm a junior in high school, and i'm in a really big shooting slump right now. everybody is telling me to move my shooting pocket to around my forehead, so when i shoot i'm looking at the hoop from underneath the ball. but i've been shooting with my pocket around my chin for the longest time, so when i shoot i'm looking at the hoop from above the ball. so i was wondering, does it matter where my shooting pocket is? because i know that nba players all shoot from their foreheads, but does shooting from your chin really hinder your game? also what finger should be the last to come off the ball? thanks!

  • Answer:

Shooting from your chin makes it easier to steal the ball from you. For example, when you get a rebound, bringing it down to your chin just makes it takes longer and now its easier for people to steal the ball. I think the middle finger should come of the ball last, as the basketball is susposed to roll of your hand.
