Why the best French basketball players never join the French National Basketball Team?

If the 1988 USA Basketball team had NBA players, who would be on that dream team that year?

    my 12 would have been pg magic,isiah,stockton sg jordan,drexler sf bird,dominique,alex english pf barkley, kevin mchale c moses malone, pat ewing,(he was a 3 year vet who was an allstar and had olympic experience.) and if they had gone with the 1 college player i would have put on david robinson and left off stockton.

Miles (Warriors, Niners, Giants)

Magic, Bird and Jordan are a given. Malone, Barkley, Dominique Wilkins for sure. James Worthy probably, Isaiah Thomas, too. Ewing was already an All-Star by 1988. In 1988, Joe Dumars was one of the best SG in the league. Chris Mullen made his first All-Star team a year later. Laettner, though? He NEVER would have been on a USA basketball dream team, so not sure why he's even listed.
