What happened at the seventh ministerial conference in the WTO?

How sad is it in the Eastern Conference in the NBA right now?

  • It is pathetic if you look at the conference standings. Only 3 teams in the Eastern Conference (Cleveland, Washington, Detroit) have more winning records (more wins than losses on their season's record to date). The Western Conference has 9 teams with winning records to date. What happened in the East? I know they shouldn't be this bad with teams like Miami, Detroit, New Jersey, Cleveland, Chicago and Washington. The fourth best team in the Eastern Conference is currently under .500 for a winning percentage, which is flat out embarrasing. Why is the East so weak this season? http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/standings;_ylt=AkDDukxMGS.OBpAQc4LvADK8vLYF

For the same reason the NFC is so weak in the NFL absolutely no reason at all just because its the way it is this year. The only thing i can think of is that there is more money on the east and west coasts and theres the ocean. A majority of the teams in the AFC and the Western Conference are on the coasts and the players are more compelled to play there for the moola and the bikinis.

The East plays a different style of basketball. I believe it's called defense. The West and their run and out shoot your opponent style of play will run into the same wall it did last year in the finals. Let's see who wins the title this year. As of today the East holds teh title.

The talent has switched to the west. Big Ben was HUGE for detroit and sheed's ankles are a mess. Shaq is down and will likely not be shaq for a long time. Teams that are playing small ball (more running) like the wizzards, are winning. Many teams are playing more small ball this year and if you have a big guy who can't run, it can hurt your team.

At least my team (the cavs) are up there with a wining record. Also if you're one of those teams with winning records, it's fun to be in the East b/c you get a high playoff spot easier

you are right, it is pathetic when the east usually has more winning seasons then the west, probally because the teams lost good players such as A.I. and ben wallace to the bulls

Hmm.. I saw a lot of interesting ideas of why, including someone who seems to ridicule the West for playing no defense, which doesn't make sense since they have the top 3 defenses in points allowed per game. The truth of the matter is, the East just doesn't have the players, especially the big men, to compete over a 82 game season. In the playoffs, you might be able to win with guards for a short series, but when you are going up against Amare, Dunkin, Yao, Dirk, KG, Boozer, etc. Not to mention guards and swingmen like Kobe, AI, Ginobli, Parker,Artest... The East has some young talent and is going to be tough in the future. Lebron, Wade, and Howard are all legitimate superstars, but unlike the west, they don't have a great team around them (minus wade, who seems to be struggling carrying the load without a healthy center, but any team shaq is on will compete for a title till he cant move). So the reason the East isn't winning... is because they aren't as good. I'm a Cavs fan, so that's hard to say. But we have a long way to being able to compete with the West.
