What is your favorite free throw routine?

What do the two hash marks(on NBA Courts) below the free throw circles mean?

  • they are parallel to the baseline directly below the dashed part of the free throw circle. I can't seem to find anything about them in the rules. they only appear on NBA courts.

  • Answer:

Two hash marks shall be drawn (2" wide) perpendicular to the sideline, in front of the scorer's table, and 4' on each side of the midcourt line. This will designate the Substitution Box area.
