What cool facts do you know about ducks?

Did you know these NBA facts Part 3?

  • Soon I will run out of facts, but I am getting such huge responses that I must keep it going. 1) Did you know that the only expansion franchise to make it to the postseason was the 1967 Chicago Bulls coached by Red Kerr. RIP Red. 2) I was dying to find a good Laker stat for all the Laker fans on this site and found one that dumbfounded even myself. Since 1968 when the NBA expanded to an 82 game season the Lakers have only had 4 seasons with a losing record. That is right 41 years and 37 times they were over .500. They also have 10 championships in that time. That is a 25% ratio meaning one out of every 4 years the Lakers win a title. That is winning at it's finest. For those people who say that the Yankees are the greatest franchise in sports maybe they should think again and remember the NBA has a soft salary cap, baseball has no cap. The Yankees have more advantages. Just for the record the Yankees have won 6 titles since 1968 which is 4 less than the Lakers. 3) Now going in the opposite direction of winning is the poor Clippers. The Clippers have been around since 1971 and have only had 6 YES 6 winning seasons in 38 years. The truly amazing thing is that 3 of those 6 were 3 straight years as the Buffalo Braves and their 4th was in 79 as the San Diego Clippers which means that they had 4 winning seasons in their first 10 years and only 2 winning seasons in their last 30 years. That is a complete exercise in futility. Maybe the worst franchise in the history of modern sports. 4) This is the ultimate WTF stat. What if I told you that the only 2 guys in the history of the NBA to have over 4000 career turnovers is GET READY....... Karl Malone and John Stockton. Granted they played a ton of years, but still a telling stat. No for a bonus what if I told you that of the top 7 all-time leaders in Turnovers that all 7 were named the 50 greatest players ever. Karl Malone, Stockton, M.Malone, I.Thomas,Hakeem, Patrick Ewing, ang yes Magic Johnson. The devil's advocate to this arguement is the defense was much tougher in their era's forcing way more TO's, pretty amazing nonetheless. 5) I love to tell stats about the 96 Bulls, here is another one to show their dominance ofthe league that year. We all know that the Bulls only lost 10 games, but some of you might not know that of those 10 loses only 2 were by 10 of more points, meaning the Bulls were never really severly outplayed. One was a 10 point loss to the Suns and the other was a 32 point loss to the Knicks. They played 82 games and only had one let down game, that is a truly telling stat of dominance. Just for the record they had 3 losses by 1 point meaning one more basket in each of those games and the Bulls were looking at a 75-7 season. Insane. 6) A lot of people know this, but I have no problem saying it again for those who don't know. Did you know that the 1995 Houston Rockets are the only team to beat in the playoffs the 4 best records in the NBA.First round they beat Utah 60-22 then beat Phoenix 59-23 then beat Spurs 62-20 then beat Magic 57-25. This is the greatest playoff run of all-time and this team had more heart than anytime I ever saw. Even though I am not a Rocket fan, this playoffs overall in my eyes was the best playoffs I ever saw, which including so many moments such as the Reggie Miller 8 points in 15 seconds, the infamous Nick Anderson steal on Jordan, The Mario Elie corner 3 to knock out the uns. Th Rik Smits buzzer beater on the up fake against Orlando and of course the Hakeem schooling of David Robinson. 7) People are always ripping the Blazers for taking Bowie over Jordan, so since I am a Bulls fan I wanted to show all of their stupid blunders to show that every team makes mistakes. I will start with 1985 the year of the first real lotto draft. This is one year after the Bulls selected Jordan. The Bulls had the 11th pick and choose Keith Lee, some joker from Memphis who did nothing. Well with the 13th pick the Utah Jazz selected Karl Malone. YES THE BULLS PASSED UP ON A JORDAN-MALONE COMBO. Other notables the Bulls passed up in 85 were Joe Dumars, A.C. Green, and Terry Porter to name a few In 1986 the Bulls selected Brad Sellers at Number 9 and passed up on Mark Price, Dell Curry, and Jeff Hornacek. 87 the Bulls had a good draft acquring Pippen and H.Grant, In 1988 The Bulls selected Will Perdue at number 11 passing up on guys like Dan Majerle and Rod Strickland. In 1989 the Bulls selected Stacey King with the 6th pick and passed up on tons of good players like Shawn Kemp, Nick Anderson, Mookie Blaylock, Vlade Divac, Cliff Robinson. The draft is a crap shoot, every once and a while you will strike gold. Don't ever fault your team for not having hindsight. 8) Did you know that Jerry West has the record for most made Free throws in a season with 840, the real amazing thing is Wilt Chamberlain is second with 835 made free throws for a season. The guy was a 50% foul shooter. Imagine how many free throws he would

  • Answer:

As usual, awesome facts. 8. Just one of the many reasons why all the nay-sayers who claim Wilt Chamberlain wasn't the best Center of All-Time should be quiet. The guy was the total package of a basketball player. If he played today, he might have over 1000 Free Throws in a Season. 7. Man, you're dead on here. Imagine if the Bulls took Dumars or Malone; it's highly doubtful Michael has those struggles with the Pistons. What's also funny, one of the guys Krause passed on being Shawn Kemp, he later actually wanted to trade Scottie Pippen for. Luckily that never happened. 6. One of my favorite NBA memories ever. Before the game, they're handing David Robinson the NBA MVP Award; during the game, Robinson is brutally schooled by Hakeem. 5. Whats funny, from what I recall, I think one of those losses that year came against the expansion Toronto Raptors. 4. Well, I'm not totally shocked. In every risk, theres reward. These guys sure delivered plenty of reward to their teams and the NBA over the years. The definition of 'go-to-guys.' 3. I'd have to say it's either the Clippers or Detroit Lions as the worst professional sports franchise in modern sports history. 2. Very awesome stat. 1. Was quite a sad day for Bulls fans this past year when Red Kerr and Norm Van Lier both passed on the same day. Two legendary Bulls icons. EDIT: mntwins, true indeed. I'll never forget Barry Sanders.

Great stuff as always. I always thought that 95 Rockets team would have won the title even if the Bulls had MJ for the full year. Your tidbit helps justify why I believe that. Love your Bulls draft mistakes - lots of teams have lists like that - too bad my Wolves can have that for EVERY year, save 1995 (KG) For #8, should also include that not only is Wilt second for free throws made in a season, he still holds the record for FT made in a game with 28 during his 100 point game. He actually did very well that night at the charity stripe - 28 our of 34. Last thought on your notes that amazed me, even though it makes sense logically - the best franchise and the worst franchise in the league and possible sports are both in the same city. Fascinating. EDIT: RobK, the Lions don't come close to the Clippers in futility - it is just that they were so bad recently. That was more due to Matt Millen than a bad history. Remember how many good years they had in the 90's, just choked in the playoffs. The Clips would love to have that chance to choke in the playoffs.

Damn, your good. All these facts you post are fabulous. Keep up the AMAZING work man. (Sigh) there's a lot I don't know about the NBA. lol

Fred

Great work again TWas. As always. If you going to take a break I might have to crack opn my NBA Encyclopedia at home and do some scrolling myself. You know i'll have to put some humor to it, how I roll. 7) On the 86 draft yeah here's another one. Sabonis. Do you think a Sabonis, yeah he could only jump 2 inches, but the big man that could shoot the ball and pass as he could to a MJ and Pippen, In the Freaking Triangle! Wow. Know what Ive got a few Trivias off the top of my head, why not launch em.

Robert

oh yeah i knew that

bigtuna

Who would've believed in 2005-06: The Clippers were 4-0 against the Lakers, finished with a better record, and outlasted them in the playoffs.
