Are there any american snowboarding leagues?

Would you welcome baseball teams from other nations, besides Canada, into the American/National Leagues?

  • Assuming the logistics were possible, would it be a good idea to have a baseball team from a European, African, Mid-eastern nation, far eastern nation or a Latin American nation be a member baseball team in either the American or National League...? American Pastime Heads to Holy Land Israeli Broadcasters Puzzled By Baseball Lingo By BEN HUBBARD AP Posted: 2007-06-24 22:45:47 PETAH TIKVA, Israel (June 24) - Puzzled broadcasters calling the first professional baseball game in Israeli history struggled with rendering baseball lingo into the holy tongue of Hebrew. After a valiant effort at translating some of the terms, they gave up - lacing their broadcast with Hebrew-accented versions of ball, strike, out, majors, pitcher and base hit. Otherwise, the game looked and sounded like real baseball on a minor league level, though it seemed as out of place in the Holy Land as polo in Manhattan. Three thousand fans cheered as the Modiin Miracles beat the Petah Tikva Pioneers 9-1. Wire fences ringed the field, and bleachers were set up along the foul lines. A fast food and snack stand did good business on the sidelines, selling hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken and soft drinks - all kosher, of course. The pitchers were a bit on the wild side, and some of the fielding was sloppy. "How do you say 'home plate?"' asked one of the announcers on the cable sports channel, which carried the game live. No one came up with an answer. The Israel Baseball League is the project of Larry Baras, a Boston-based bakery czar who has long dreamed of bringing baseball to Israel. To develop local talent, Baras drafted Dan Duquette, former general manager of the Boston Red Sox, to be the league's director of player development.

  • Answer:

Sure, why not. Baseball isn't diluted enough. Let's bring in more AA players.

I am not sure. If the team is too far from the US, it wouldn't be good because the players would be tired because of the long flights and also be jetlagged. If the teams were in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Cubs, or Puerto Rico, it would be okay because the flights aren't that long, and the time zones are roughly the same.

MLB should stay in America. Thats what the World Baseball Classic is all about

bonesiown

I would welcome teams from other countries so long as they adhered to our rules.

no baseball should stay in america where they care for it more. also their should have never been a team in canada they get overshadowed by hockey. MLB has already expanded too much the rockies, devil rays, marlins, and to some extent the blue jays and expos now nationals should have never been created.

I would have no problem with that. I think thats what its coming to anyway. Then it will be a true world series. Some of the smaller markets can't compete. They can't get a big television contract. So I see possibilities in Tokyo, Mexico City, maybe somewhere in South America also.

I wouldn't have a problem with it.

We have their players here, why not the teams? It's inevitable anyway. Mexico is baseball crazy, as is Central and South America. Japan, Korea, and now China all love the game. Italy is heavily into it, as is Australia. Wouldn't it be cool if the World Series was the WORLD Series? The only problem right now is logistics of travel. The rules would be simple enough to control by only allowing teams in that guarantee to follow the current rules (though we'd need a stronger commissioner than Selig). It would be pretty darn interesting.

No way Jose, keep it local. FLights are already long enough and probably tire out the players already. Think of flying to Israel for a few games, and then the next day flying back to, say, Oakland for a 4 game series. Too hectic. I don't even like that there is a team in Canada, anyways...
