What and When are the time constraints for bonds?

Do you think that Barry Bonds is the greatest of all time?

  • After further analysis I think yes. I was comparing the career stats of the guys most people consider the greatest baseball players of all time (Ruth, Mays, Aaron, Ted Williams, Cobb, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Musial, etc) with Barry Bonds' stats and I arrived at the conclusion that Bonds is the best player ever. Why? For the simple fact that such a great slugger still managed to steal more than 500 bases. I'm a Yankees fan and I love Babe Ruth and all the other Yankee greatest, but I gotta give the title of greatest player of all time to Bonds! Go on MLB.com and ESPN.com and compare the stats and you'll see why.

    I think he is one of the greatest of all time. Who is to say before baseball banned performance enhancing drugs, that other players like Aaron or McCovey or any of them didnt take something back then , that helped them hit. And Bonds didn't come out of nowhere, he has maintained a steady 35 + average Homeruns per season for 20 yrs. and had 1 yr.that he hit 73. the most besides that was 49, How many players have done that (alot). And hasnt been proven guilty of anything. I Wish people would look at career stats instead of stuff they cant prove to ruin a career. SO YES one of the GREATEST.

No. If he could pitch, then probably yes, but he cannot, and Ruth could. Barry's way, way up there, but Ruth continues to rule.

if by greatest you mean the greatest cheater ever then yes. EDIT The only way to test for HGH is a blood test, which MLB does not do as of yet. I hope that his name comes up with the guy that used to work for the Mets that just got busted and has admitted to supplying steroids to dozens of MLB players. oo and Bonds did fail and amphetamine test last season, and blamed it on his own teammate Mark Sweeny. The story was leaked, the first positive is supposed to be just a warning behind closed doors and not announced to the media. "Under baseball's amphetamines policy, which went into effect last season, players are not publicly identified for a first positive test." YOU CANNOT ARGUE THAT BONDS HAS NOT USED STEROIDS!!!!

haha, bonds as the best of all time? best of the steriod era maybe , if that. Bonds is only in it for the record then he's out. he doesnt even deserve the home run record, because hank aaron is the best home run hitter of all time.

The stats speak for themselves. I take one thing into consideration though, the fact that Bonds has used performance enhancing drugs. All of the other Baseball Greats did not use anything but pure talent and skill. Bonds was given the ability to steal bases though, and his ability to make contact and call strikes and balls is amazing though. Many feel the same way I do, and many feel the way you do. If Bonds is going to be given the title of Greatest Player Ever, then I want Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame. Simple fact everyone considers in this discussion is that Bonds cheated. It is as plain as day. I do like Bonds though and think he is a great ball player, just not the best ever. For best power I'd have to give it to Hank Aaron though. No performance enhancers, 100% Raw Talent.

Is this greatest hitter or greatest player? Dont forget pitchers are players too and Cy Youngs 511 wins is pretty substantial. Five times a 30 game winner and a career ERA of 2.63. Today just getting to 20 wins or an ERA below 3.00 is an accomplishment. Someday Bonds hitting records could be passed but will anyone ever win more than 500 career games again?

I am with you brother. I am a Tiger fan but I can say with out a doubt Bonds is the greatest ever. I think the "steroid" issue is completely overblown
