Who chooses MVPs, Cy young winners, ROYs etc etc?

• I always wondered about who got to choose who gets to win what. Not to sound rude or anything but what makes them professional/credable enough to actually choose i mean are they just sportswriters? Do they have a right to judge? Do they just sit around and discuss who's in and who's out? how does this work? It always seems like someone is overlooked when it comes to things like awards same with Hall of Fame. I know a lot of thought goes into specifically checking if players did this and that but i always kinda thought that there are other ways to measure a guy too anyways thanks for answering!

  Well its kind of like a fraternity of "baseball experts" called the baseball writers of america. People like Buster Only and Tim Kurkjian as well as Peter Gammons are some members, so they have a pretty broad expertise about baseball. They vote on a ballot about who they feel is their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices and then the votes are tallied. As for the hall of fame it is a lot more complicated lol, but its tough since there are so many viable candidates on each years ballot , so their decision is purely on their preference.
