How do I get MLB All Star/Home-Run Derby Tickets for 2007 in SF without going through brokers or scalpers?

I live in San Francisco and am looking to get an early jump on tickets for the 2007 All Star Game and Home Run Derby. I'm curious as to how people obtained tickets to either this year's all star game in Pittsburgh or past all star games. I'm hoping to not have to go through ticket brokers or scalpers and just get them straight up. Does being a season ticket holder of the host team help?

The Red Sox gave the season ticket holding fan base an opportunity to buy tickets that MLB had not already allocated (about half I guess)....the longer you were a season ticket holder, the better chance you had of qualifying for getting a chance to get tickets to the game. MLB will I'm sure have some sort of lottery, but your chances there (battling the online ticket scalpers) are next to none. Your best chance is to go on eBay shortly after they are released and look for someone who is trying to make a quick buck by getting in and getting out fast. The longer you wait as the event approaches, the more the tickets go for. You're going to have to pay a premium if you want to go to that game. You need to either accept that or not go, in all honesty.
