How do I cut intricate designs in metal for super cheap?

How do the ground crews at MLB staduims cut the intricate designs into the grass?

• Please dont just say with mowers. I know that. I know how they get the patterns with only 90 degree angles and straight cuts, but how do they do the more detailed designs? The one that comes to mind is the Red Sox logo (double socks) cut into the outfield grass at Fenway. However they do it, its sweet.

  actually.. they cut the grass similar to that of someone doing it in their own yard, but what they use to make specific shapes and make the grass appear more designed is a weighted bar that can be raised and lowered so that they can cut the grass into a shape raise it, and then move to a different location without leaving a trail in that direction. the bar simply flattens the grass enough to one side that it appears lighter in color. The lighter lines of the grass are pointed away from view point. The darker lines are pointed toward the viewpoint. They do the design similar to that of a football logo in an endzone, an artistic groundskeeper stencils out the look he wants, radios to someone in a high sight around the stadium to see if the size is good and than proceeds to cut and flatten the grass into the design. it looks good from far away and especially on camera, but if you are a player on the field, or look at the grass closely, it doesnt look nearly as impressionable. Also, the grounds crew that specializes in that area of work are paid very handsomely.
