Bleacher Creatures at Yankee Stadium, why so harsh and hostile?
-
Look, I know about this Bleachers Creatures thing for a long time and as a Mets fan, I don't like these criminal-oriented people. I said before that I respect the Yankees history but I hate some players, their fans, and sometimes their arrogant front office. The people associated with this gang of unruly Yankee fans are known for strict allegiance to the Yankees and their bad behavior towards opposing fans from other teams. They're also known for throwing batteries at opposing outfielders. Now you Yankee fans should know just because you have a great team doesn't give you the right to attack people associated with other teams! The same goes to all the other teams in the country but this one is takes the cake. The main idea of this question is that I have a couple of things that I'm wondering about these guys: 1. When the opposing team wins, do they go out and start trouble with them? 2. When an opposing player gets injured (minor or serious), do they cheer? 3. Do you guys respect all the other Major League teams despite some rivalries? If I'm missing other things, lemme know but I'm gonna continue. All opposing fans should take note that you should never sit in the bleachers at Yankee Stadium. I never sat there myself, Thank God! If you're a Yankee fan if you're offended of what I said, too bad because it's the truth. And/or if you're a Yankee fan who's smart enough, let me know.

Answer:
Seems to me your "Statement" is almost totally based on hearsay. Since you've never actually sat with the "Bleacher Creatures" maybe you should. I have on many occasions. I've also sat in hundreds of other seats at Yankee Stadium. There are good and bad fans in every section. The "Bleacher Creatures" are there to have a good time. I've had my kids with me many times and we've always had a blast. The big thing is calling out the players at the beginning of each home game. It's pretty cool. You've said a lot of negative things here but if you're not willing to check it out for yourself, you really don't have the right to judge.

1. no. 2. minor yes major no. 3. Respect all except Red Sox. When did Yankees fans throw batteries? I think you have the Yankees confused with the Phillies when they threw batteries at JD Drew. As a Yankees fan I rarely get offended by jealous non Yankee fans. 27 time World Champs.

Yankee fans in general are some of the lowest lifeforms on the Planet, and in the solar system and in the Universe. GO RED SOX!!!

1. No, your confusing a true Yankee fan with violent fans like the Raiders, Niners, Dodgers or Mike Piazza 2. No one wants to see another player injured 3. Respect is earned not given..27 Rings, you sound jaded , oh yea you lost in 2000 And to make comments about the bleacher seats when you've NEVER been there..sure we taunt, but it's all in fun..you truly sound like a 3 year old who got there balloon popped..just another dynasty hater

Ok, so let's take this apart point by point. First, you say you've never sat in the bleachers at Yankee Stadium. By definition, you are not qualified to judge anyone there. By not being there, you cannot state that any of the bleacher creatures are "criminally oriented." Fact is, they are not. The bleacher creatures are a diverse group of people that come from every race, religion, and background that you can think of. It's one of the most culturally diverse places I have ever had the pleasure of frequenting, and we are all bound together by a passion for the Yankees. Yes, the bleacher creatures are passionate fans known for strict allegiance to the Yankees. Of course that's true. And yes, the bleacher creatures are known to be rude to opposing teams' fans and players. While the bleacher creatures do have that reputation, they are relatively tame compared to say, Philadelphia, where the boo Santa Claus, or Los Angeles, where they beat people to near death. Another proof of your failure to ever set foot in the section is your claim that the bleacher creatures are known for throwing batteries at opposing outfielders. Having been to over 500 games in the bleachers, that has NEVER happened in my experience. NEVER. There was an incident in the 1980s where I believe it was a battery thrown at Wally Joyner. That battery came from the upper deck, and it was over 25 years ago. I think it's safe to say that with cameras tuned in on the section, no one would get away with that. So once again, you're wrong. So I'm not sure what you think takes the cake. In the bleachers, most of the so-called harassment is verbal, and when there is a physical problem, it is almost always someone who would not be a bleacher regular, just some jerk who managed to show up that day. Don't confuse someone who sits in the bleachers with the Bleacher Creatures themselves. Again, that would be ignorance. Now to your three questions: 1. No. We don't start trouble with opposing fans. For most of us, we leave the game inside. 2. Yes. That happens everywhere. There is no mercy for opposing players. For what it's worth, at Shea Stadium, I've seen Mets fans go up to Yankee fans wearing a Thurman Munson shirt and make fun of the plane crash. If stuff like that offends you, it's probably best to watch your games at home. 3. Some do, some don't. Our goal is to beat the other teams, not respect them. As for your comment about opposing fans not sitting in the bleachers, I agree. Don't sit there. You're not going to be welcomed with open arms. Will you be beaten? No. Will you be booed? Yes. You should expect that because you're wearing another team's colors, just like I expect to be booed if I wear Yankee colors in another Stadium. It goes with the territory. Nothing you said was offensive. Just ignorant. Hope the answer educated a bit. EDIT: You edited yours, so I'll add to mine. Repeat this sentence to yourself because it's true: "I never sat in the bleachers." By definition, you have no clue. You think GOOGLE is a source? If a bunch of people like you, who are going by false information and rumor, post the same thing, is it true? I don't need to insult you personally. Not necessary. But you clearly have some misconceptions about the bleachers, and you need some education.

just because your team sucks doesn't mean you need to go around hating true champions. all opposing fans should take note to never sit anywhere in Citi field because thats time you will never get back in your life, it is a true waste of time. oh yeah and if this offended you too bad, its the truth.

Ok...First off...wherever you got your information from is TOTALLY wrong. We, The Bleacher Creatures, are the most avid of Yankee fans. We DO NOT get unruly or hostile, let alone assault people. Do we taunt people in the bleachers wearing opposing gear? Absolutely! I don't know who told you we throw batteries at opposing players, but your dead wrong. We're actually the most well-behaved group in the stadium. Criminal-oriented? How so? To answer your 3 questions... 1. No way. 2. HELL NO 3. Yes. We respect the game, though we may not like the uniform of the opposing player, but that's what REAL FANS do. As a Yankee Fan and a Bleacher Creature, I am offended especially coming from a "fan" of a team that doesn't have enough dedicated fans to have a group like the Bleacher Creatures behind them. If we're so bad, why would celebrities talk about us, let alone, come out to sit with us?

First off let me say I wouldn't sit any other place. I am a Yankee fan and have been since birth. I started sitting in the bleachers in 2005. This was the best move I ever made as a Yankee fan. The people I have met come from all walks of life. To say that we are gang is an outrageous accusation. For the most part the people that sit there have been sitting there for over 15 years. In these years I have seen generations of fans. Who happen to bring their young children to the game with them. Yes we are an intense group of dedicated fans but once again to call people an unruly gang that you have never met is ignorant to say the least. Yes as an opposing fan u will get heckled welcome to the sports world. But with that being said a very good friend of mine that happens to be a met fan and ex employee of Yankee Stadium would love nothing better than to go to a game with me wearing an opposing teams hat. no matter who they are playing. He wants to get heckled cause it's all in good fun. But then again as a Met fan you probably wouldn't know what fun is.... now to answer your questions. 1 no that is dispicable behavior. there have been incidents in other cities over the last couple of months. That saddened me as a sports fan. This behavior is unacceptable. 2. When injuries as rare as they are in baseball are never cheered for. 3. As for other teams. Yes any team that is playing the Mets. Also you should get your facts straight before posting ignorant questions.

OK, first, you said you've never sat in the bleachers and never will. So, basically, it's all what you've heard, not what you've experienced first hand. Ignorant. Second, I'm sure there are some Yankee fans that are total and complete jerks. Every single team has those fans. You constantly hear about the horrible Yankee fans, but I've had some pretty bad experiences with other team's fans, it just doesn't get the attention. I went to a game at Anaheim, playoffs - Angels vs Yankees, I had a man grab my wrist and twist it pulling me out of my seat. I got security and they didn't do crap about it. They ended up getting his ID, the police came, and he took off (it was a fake ID). If it was a Yankee fan at Yankee stadium that would make the news. I was also hit by some stupid kid with those freakin thunder sticks. I told the kid's dad to make him stop, he did nothing. I told the kid to stop, nothing. I finally told them both if it didn't stop, I'd take them. I did this with a security guard sitting nearby, who did nothing. It continued, so I popped them. Security threatened to kick me out. So it happens everywhere, you just hear about it more when it happens in Yankee Stadium. I'm sorry if you've experienced something similar or had some Yankee fans treat you poorly, but that doesn't mean every Yankee fan is the same. I can't give you an answer to why those who are jerks are, cause I'm not one of them. But, every team has those kinds of fans, it's not just the Yankees. I've been harassed by some Met fans in my day, but I don't think they're all idiots.

You claim to have done a lot of research and can thus "educate" us on the behaviors of Yankee fans, but then you have to ask true Yankee fans three questions? How much sense does that make? Better yet, who are you to judge the 'Bleacher Creatures' if you've never actually sat there before, or if you've never met anyone in your life who did (like me)? You are no better than even the most obnoxious Yankee fans for prematurely judging people like you are! That came off as very offensive to me. Not only have I never insulted anyone in my life, I've actually BEEN insulted BY other fans WHILE in the bleachers! And guess what? I have FIRSTHAND proof of such. It's an in-state rivalry. Yankee fans aren't going to welcome Mets fans into their stadium with open arms, and vice versa. There are fans of every team who take the game more seriously than life itself. You sound to me like you just want to generalize the negativity of all Yankee fans.
