What and When are the time constraints for bonds?

Would you agree that Barry Bonds is the most feared hitter of all-time?

  • Leave the "oh he took steroids" comments to yourself... that's not what I'm asking. bq1 -- Do you think there will ever be another player who's as feared as Bonds was? bq2 -- Who's the most feared hitter in today's game? bq3 -- Be honest, you admire Barry Bonds the baseball player, right?

  • Answer:

In his prime there is no doubt. The Diamondbacks once walked him with the bases loaded in the 10th inning, with a 3 run lead so I think they would have done that to any other hitter in the game. I don't think there is a single hitter who is the most feared, there are so many great hitters and different teams will fear some players more, just because a player plays in there division. Because of the steroids I don't admire him, but I have got to give it to him on all of the gold gloves, that is hard to say as a Dodger fan.

Irving

Yes Bonds WOULD scared every pitchers he face. If you look at his career total of intentional walks, you'll see why. If I was a pitcher, I WOULD just walk Bonds and face the next hitter in the lineup because getting Bonds out was hard. His career OBP is .444, which is great. He had that one year where he walked 232 times, in 2004 actually. But he was intentionally walked 120 times! That's insane! BQ1: Maybe BQ2: Still Pujols and Bautista is after Pujols. BQ3: Before the steroids, yes. Right now, NO!

To the guy who answered Gary Sheffield, I totally agree. Everytime Sheff came to the plate, the 3rd base coach moved at least 15 ft back. His violent pre-swing motion of the bat, you knew he was ready to crank one with every swing! BQ2- Pujols and Miguel Cabrera, maybe even Nelson Cruz to a point. They SHOULD have feared him in the ALCS last year, but they still kept pitching to him. BQ3- Absoutely not! Never did, never will.

Brian

Nope he wasn't. bq1 yes there is and was bq2 Miguel Cabrera bq3 before the steroids he was a HOF player with the pirates he was a 30hr and 30 stolen base guy i'd have to agree i liked him then

BIG RICHARD

Definitely. Getting intentionally walked with the bases loaded answered that question. BQ: No (since they're cracking down on roiders, I don't think we will) BQ2: Albert Pujols or Miguel Cabrera BQ3: No comment

NO! It was Gary Sheffield. Bonds may have been more of a threat to hit a home run, but Sheff was far more of a threat to take your head off with a batted ball.

George

No. Babe Ruth and Ted Williams were more impressive and intimidating than Counterfeit Bonds. Dick Allen, according to numerous players, hit the ball harder than anyone in the history of the game and was feared by 3rd basemen who were tasked with fielding the lasers coming off his bat. BQ 1- There are any number of players today who can do more damage than the juicer you seem to have a man-crush on. Bonds was nothing special. BQ 2- Bautista, Pujols, Migs Cabrera and Fielder can all turn a pitch around in a hurry. BQ 3- Bonds is a turd in the cesspool of professional sports. I have no respect for him at all. He is truly loathsome.
