Who is Babe Ruth?

Babe Ruth or Willie Mays, who would you pick first to be on your team?

    Don't even have to think about it I would take Mays hands down. Ruth was great but Mays had it all. He hit for power, average, he could stretch a single into a double or a double into a triple, he could steal bases and I'm not sure there has ever been a better outfielder(although an argument could be made for that). Mays had to show up to play hard everyday. Ruth was so far superior to anyone else in his era he showed up drunk and hungover and out of shape. To compare the two you must compare the era that they played in which is always difficult. Ruth had more HRs than entire teams, that would never happen in the days of Willie Mays or today's game. Ruth was just before his time so his numbers look so much better compared to his generation of ball players.

Mays in a heartbeat! Willie in his prime had it all: hitting, power, fielding and speed. The pitching that he faced was much better than that which Babe had to deal with. With all the weight that Babe toted around he was never a serious threat on the basepaths. Both played 22 years, Mays stole 338 bases and Ruth 123.

Mays Because he could hit run and throw. Ruth was a great home run hitter and started out as a reall good pitcher but I don't think he had the spped that Mays had. I'd take Willie over the Babe

Willie Mays because he was the complete player he could run which was something Babe Ruth couldnt do and he could field again something the Babe couldnt do they're both great great players but Willie Mays is better because he was the greatest 5 tool player to ever play the game let alone the fact that Willie Mays had 660 home runs

I would take Willie Mays because of the kind of person he is. Overall I think that Babe Ruth was a better player, but if I was thinking of the best for my orginization I would go with Mays because Ruth was an alcoholic. Mays would portray more of a positive look for my team and his talent is still great. He is also better defensively.
