What does sports illustrated mean?

So Sports Illustrated picks the Mets to win the World Series, Thoughts?

  • I'm pissed, If there's anyone who I don't want picking my team, that would be Sports Illustrated. These guys are wrong year in and year out. Mets fans, this isn't a positive for us, it's completelý negative. Why? Sports Illustrated, Why? I mean couldn't they just pick the Phillies to repeat? Damn... Thoughts? Peace, and Thanks for taking time out to answer.

  • Answer:

i'm not a Mets fan, but i think the Mets have a good chance of winning the NL East. over the past two years, they missed the playoffs due to an inconsistent bullpen and bad luck. this could be a different year. if Maine is healthy and the Mets get some production out of the #5 starter, the rotation will be great. only two relievers who made more than 25 appearances with last year's team are back. that's wonderful news for Mets fans. all in all, their season depends on Santana's health. if he's out for an extended period of time, their chances will disappear.

Sorry but the Mets are officially screwed! You know the curse of SI and what it means to any team or person who is given a positive point of view. "The Kiss of Death". Looks like the Phillies are in for sure.

thoughts... they're wrong every single year >.< Its funny how so many analysts and magazines and such work hard on making predictions (and explaining why they think that way blah blah blah) when they are totally and completely wrong by the time the WS is done and over with. Esp. Baseball tonight and sportscenter those kind of things.. lol! Its more amusing when they try to explain why the team they chose to win did wrong and how they could have done better and thinking of excuses. Its hilarious >.< p.s. Mets are a strong team this year though, heck they got a lot of talent and surely won't choke this time around.. or at least i would hope so ;)

The Mets have a lot of concerns going into the season. 1. aging players 2. will young talent actually live to the hype 3. will starters rebound from bad years. No shot of winning it!

Well, I'm not a big SI person either. However, I hope they're right about their prediction this year cause that would be so nice. Just because they're normally wrong doesn't mean that they'll definitely be wrong this year.

I'm not a big fan of Sports Illustrated by any means but they used some logic in picking the Mets. They have as good a chance to make it to the world series as any team in the National League, so the pick is actually for once quite a informed one. They have the hitters, they have the pitchers and finally they have the relief pitchers they have been dying for. There will be a lot of competition in the NL East this year, but all i can say after reading that the Mets will win the World Series is........Why not! Although obviously i want the Cubs to win it all :-)

I disagree with so many of their picks, such as choosing the Blue Jays to finish in last place, the Reds to finish in fourth, the A's to go 81-81, and the worst one is the Angels beating the Red Sox in the ALDS. Have they not been watching those games for the past 6 years? I do agree that the Mets will go to the World Series, but lose to the Twins. And don't worry, I'm usually wrong (picked the Tigers in 08 XD)

Ok the Mets are a solid team with a lot of playmakers. The question is: Can they play as a team? No single player won the WS for the Phils (in your face Mets fans), the whole team contributed. If they can play as a team: playoffs. If not: No way. I don't think they're going anywhere. They're gonna be the Cowboys of baseball. I hope you and the rest of the mets fans know the Heimlich maneuver because I've got a feeling there's gonna be some choking.
