Between the Bernard Madoff Scandal & the problems with Citibank do you think this could be some of the ->?

    I've thought that all along. I know Fred Wilpon has lost millions, and he was giving free office space to Madoff in the "Lipstick Building" that Fred owns. Some friend!! I also find it awfully strange that the new stadium is still going to be called "Citi Field." ...that's just not right!

I think they made the moves they needed to. Fixed their bullpen...gave out a lot of money. Signed Perez. They still have one of the top 5 payrolls in baseball. I think they are just waiting for some outfielder prices to go down and theyll sign someone there too. There is no reason for them to overpay for an outfielder based on the way the free agent market has been since the Yankees left it. I think Abreu would be a great fit for them but Im not the Minaya so I cant tell them what to do. Citibank has nothingn to do with it at all because the contract btw them and the Mets stands and Citi will just be paying the Mets out of taxpayers money instead of their own. So that just sucks for us, not the Mets. Wilpon's losses could have some effect but I think he's still loaded.

I doubt it,they are probably just biding thier time and using a combination of bargining power and or business tactics to thier advantage in the offseason.

They actually spent some decent coin by adding to their pen. They have a high payroll.
