Is abstract knowledge incompatible with literal memorization?

The abstract library of all knowledge?

  • Hi. This is hard to explain, but I'll try. A long time ago I was browsing the internet for information about different philosophical theories, and I found something that reminded me a bit about Plato. The thing is, I can't remember what it was called, or if Plato was the one who had the original theory. Basically the theory said that there exists an abstract library which consists of information about everything that is, and the truth about everything. It was something few people could access, and philosophers only. It reminds me of Plato, but I can't remember anything else. I am looking for the name of that theory, and the name of the philosopher. Please help; this is driving me nuts.
