If people say "N word" is just a word, doesnt that make other words the same?

I beleive that people say the "N" word is just another word because teenagers and young adults now a days use the word "*****" so litghtly. Like its a Term of Endearment or something, when there ignorance shows that they dont know or are just choosing to ignore that its a hateful word used back in the days of slavery to refer to a black person. We can all go on for days regardless of race, and talk about hateful things to say to one another. But words are meaningless. Words always have meaning.....if you let them have a meaning.

Language is a tool box containing cotton wool and sledge hammers. Those who want to insult someone do not depend from certain words being "PC" or not. Those promoting politically correct language invalidate some single tools of which a tool box like "language" contains more than enough alternatives.There are many ways to make oneself ridiculous. Language Talibanship is one of them.

Words are never just words. We choose them for a reason. I don't use the N word because I find it ugly. However yesterday I was at the gas station. Next to me was a car with a bunch of kids in the back. The father was filling his tank. Every other word out of his mouth was mf, sob, gdmf, all aimed toward the little kids (ages 2 to 8) and went on for about 15 minutes. I became so angry, I thought to myself now that's a 'N' word person. (He was a black man.) I thought of the word on purpose because it was the worst thing I could think of to describe this person. Don't get me wrong, lots of my friends are black, I'm a white person. I would never dream of referring to them with the 'N' word, simply because it does not apply. They are all terrific people. There are equally negative words to use had the above mentioned person been a white person. So in answer to your original question. Words are not just words. They all have their specific meanings and intentions.

The message behind saying that it to state that "words" themselves cannot hurt you... And if you just ignore the words they cannot impact your life... And yes, that goes for all words. I fully believe that actions speak louder than words and if somebody is using words to insult you ignoring them with cause more damage to the person insulting you. A person's ultimate goal for insulting somebody is to attempt to get a reaction out of the person... If they get no reaction from the person it does bother them more than the person they have insulted... It may not feel that way, but it is true. I have never in my life been bothered enough to encourage somebody who feels the need to insult me, and with that I have never been in a fight, nor have I ever really picked picked on or bullied in life... The few times I have been "insulted" by words I just simply look at the person and say "I'm sorry you feel that way" and move on from the conversation... I have found this will drive a person more nuts than anything they could say to you and watching them get so annoyed by it is more amusing than anything you could do to them.
