How do today's issues affect you?

  • I'm doing a project and I'd really like to know your opinion on issues such as homosexuality, feminism, murder and necrophilia, religion and women in religion.....I'd like to know whether you think that the way the media deals with things like this is correct and apprpriate and whether society learns anything about it. Do we need informing in different ways? Are we bored of hearing the same issues dealt with over and over again? Is the answer to address theses issues from another angle such as dance, drama and physical theatre because of the way society is becoming more visual and creative? Please let me know your opinions whatever they may be, no judgments made here just need answers :D thanks guys

    Indeed, your question has many diffirent answers. I will shed light on one important thing which i can see could has more importance than the others. Racism, murder and religion....etc are all issues so as to speak. We, open minded and tolerated people are aware of these things whereas the laymen are not. In order to simplify the danger of this threats and show it in a simple way for this cateory of people, we use movies, plays, sketches, hidden cameras...etc to make them aware of that. Also, for well-educated people, it is better to use criticism and express their points of view through philosophy, science and more sophisticated ways in politics. Additionally, Media as something that update both people everyday with various events can help in a way or another to restrict this kind of issues or reinforce it. it all depends on the nature of the cocktail of the programmes in shows to its global audience....

I think you addressed many of our concerns with how issues are dealt with today. Issues affect me at this point in life, enough for me to study them and attempt a solution that I could be satisfied with, but I hate dwelling too long on them because it could easily make me bitter, since I see no immediate change. I love when the arts try to deal with an issue, and that they present them in a more entertaining, provocative light, although it sometimes falls into cliches that are necessary to keep the issues in the minds of the younger generations. I have used the arts myself to explore and attempt solutions to certain issues, and feel somewhat satisfied with that, although I often times reprimand myself for not taking the path of the activists who I think are the most effective and most courageous in dealing with the countries' problems.
