What do I put in my essay?

Acess the importance of priori knowledge. (Tips on what to put in this essay)?

  • In philosophy we are studying priori knowledge, to do with rationlism, if anyone has done a similar essay or has any ideas about what to put in, I would really appreciate it. Thanks a lot.

  • Answer:

To be able to "assess the importance" of a thing, you have to believe it is important. But first you have to think it exists. If you believe the mind is tabula rasa at birth, nothing is a priori. Socrates and Plato believed we are born with all knowledge, which would make it all a priori. "The Socratic Method" is the means by which we get this knowledge into our conscious minds. Kant said a priori meant all things that are self-justifying, such as "All bachelors are unmarried." But that is supposed to be logic APART FROM experience. However, "Man’s knowledge is not acquired by logic apart from experience or by experience apart from logic, but 'by the application of logic to experience'. All truths are the product of a logical identification of the facts of experience." Piekoff http://aynrandlexicon.com/lexicon/a_priori.html
