  To be able to "assess the importance" of a thing, you have to believe it is important. But first you have to think it exists. If you believe the mind is tabula rasa at birth, nothing is a priori. Socrates and Plato believed we are born with all knowledge, which would make it all a priori. "The Socratic Method" is the means by which we get this knowledge into our conscious minds. Kant said a priori meant all things that are self-justifying, such as "All bachelors are unmarried." But that is supposed to be logic APART FROM experience.
