How can a disabled person read a book?
-
I am disabled myself. I read fine in terms of comprehension, but it is physically and emotionally frustrating to navigate a library or bookstore. Are there any disabled scholars of literature? What does it mean to read? Does reading mean identifying words, or actually comprehending them, and what level of comprehending is enough to call it 'reading'? --Sam Shakespeare enthusiast

Answer:
Sam I don't fully understand your question here. I get the navigation issue and can add an opinion on that. Ever hear of E books? microsoft put out a program called microsoft reader (it's free) and you can go to places like ebooks.com (I find the books to be very reasonably priced) download books into your reader and read from a PPC or directly from the computer some even have it so the book is read to you, kinda neat. I take reading to mean comprehension, depending on the disability I think anyone can benefit from reading even if it is childrens books. I might have missed the whole point of your question but I hope I was some help.

Buy books on tape or CD. Then just close your eyes and enjoy! I can read, but not in the car! I have a long commute, so I check out books on tape and CDs from the library. I "read" 2-3 books per week as I drive in my car. Actually, as I sit in traffic in my car! There are tons available on Amazon!

l love reading books and do to this day. By reading it increased my reading speed. If l am enjoying the book, l have read a 326 page book in less the 22 hours.
