How to convert Cl concentration to HCl concentration?
-
So I used an ion meter to determine how many ions of chloride there were in a solution and the answer was 5.5 ppm Cl, and I need to convert this to the concentration of HCl that would be in that solution. Anyone know how to do this? Would the answer be 5.5 or 11?

Answer:
I assume this has to do with titrations. First of you need a calibration curve to convert amperage to PH. Then use PH to find concentration. When it comes to pH this guy is ur friend: Henderson Hasselbalch http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henderson%E2%80%93Hasselbalch_equation *edit* wait it seems you already have concentration. just convert parts per million to MOLARITY. Then you should know that Cl concetration is same as H+. Just solve for H+. (i hope you understand)
