What are the oxidation numbers for these compounds?

  • What is the oxidation number of P in H4P2O7? What is the oxidation number of Mo in MoO4 charge of 2-? What is the oxidation number of B in NaBH4? What is the oxidation number of Cr in K2Cr2O2?     Take a look at the link below for an explanation of how to work out oxidation numbers. in your first example, there is +4 from the hydrogens, and and -14 from the oxygens, so the two phosphorus atoms need to compensate by being +5 each. That brings the whole compound to zero. And in the last example, the three oxygens make -6 and the sodium and hydrogen are +1 each, which means the carbon has to be +4 so that the compound is zero. But it'd be best for you if you had a go at the others yourself. after studying the rules and examples given in the link below, of course
