p1v1=p2v2 can u please show how u got the answers boyles law 1.the pressure on a 625 mL sample of gas is changed from 0.925 atm to 1.45 atm.what is the new volume of that sample of gas? 2.a cylinder fitted with with a piston contains 14.0 L at a pressure of 7.50 atm. The entire contents of the cylinder are forced into a tightly folded plastc bag at 1.00 atm of pressure.what will be the volume of the bag when filled by escaping gas? 3.in a small automobile engine, a typical cylinder has a maxiimum volume of 9000 mL.when the piston moves to decreases the volume on the compression stroke, the volume becomes 125 mL at the time of ignition. if the orginal 900 mL volume is measured at 1.00 atm, what is the final pressure in atm?

Answer:
1) okay the first thing to do in Boyle's Law is to list the givens/what you already know, so.... P1 (first pressure) = 0.925 atm V1 (first volume) = 625 ML P2 (second pressure) = 1.45 atm V2 (second volume) = ? okay so now that we know what were looking for (V2), we have to rearrange the equations so we can solve for V2. P1V1 = P2V2 ----------> okay, we need to get V2 by its self, so what we are going to do, is DIVIDE both sides by P2. Since we are dividing by P2, its going to cancel each other out on the second set (P2V2). so it will be P1 x V1 DIVIDED by P2 = V2 now that we have our equation, we need to plug in our numbers. V2 = 0.925 atm x 625 ML divided by 1.45 atm the two "atm" will cross out, so your answer should be in ML when you plug this into your calculator you should get 398.7068966, but since you only have THREE significant figures, your answer will round to 399 ML. so your final answer is: V2 = 399 ML make since? so for number 2, with out all the directions whould look like... P1 = 7.50 atm V1 = 14.01 L P2 = 1.00 atm V2 = ? Divide both sides by P2, to get V2 alone... V2 = P1 x V1 divided by P2 plug in numbers... 7.50 atm x 14.0 L divided by 1.00 atm equals 105. final anwer = 105 L Now that ive helped you, I think you should try number 3 on your own, to make sure you've got it. hope I helped & good luck! :)
