How should I prepare for the AP Chemistry Exam?

AP chemistry?

Hi all. I'm going to take AP chemistry this year. Are there any materials I need to cover before the class begins? I heard that the AP exam is hard. If so, how should I prepare for it? Thanks in advance.

I didn't have any trouble with AP chemistry or the exam... But I guess it varies from high school to high school. Are you going to major in chemistry? You might want to make sure the college(s) you want to go to will still accept AP credit for the course. Otherwise, it's not worth paying for the exam. Still good to take the course; gets you a leg up... I'm just asking 'cause I had that problem and, while I eventually talked them into giving me the credit and letting me take organic freshman year, it was a lot of work. And I know some of my friends weren't so lucky. Or maybe persistent... (stubborn?)

I took AP Chem last year (the 2007 exam) and got a five on it. I didn't do any preparation for the class over the summer. The best way to prepare for the test is to look at old tests. You can find them here: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/chemistry/samp.html?chem This was the first year they used a new format, so only the 2007 test is going to be what you'll be taking, but it tells you what to expect. The text book I used was Chang Chemistry (http://www.mhhe.com/physsci/chemistry/chang/). It has a lot of good practice tests on its website on the differant areas of chemistry
