This is the problem. Please explain how to solve step by step so I dont have to go onto yahoo answers every time I need help with a chemistry problem 1. 59.1 grams of Barium Chloride reacts with excess liquid bromine to form Barium Bromide and gaseous Chlorine a. Write a balanced chemical equation to describe the reaction b. Calculate the number of molecules of chlorine gas formed c. Calculate the volume of chlorine gas produced. When answering, seperate the answers by A, B, and C. 10 points goes to the most clear and easy to understand answer/explaination of how to solve.

Answer:
a. Write a balanced chemical equation Barium Chloride reacts with excess liquid bromine to form Barium Bromide and gaseous Chlorine Barium=Ba2+ (2+ because it is in the second line of the periodic table) Chloride=Cl- Barium Chloride=BaCl2 (positive ion on the left side) Bromide=Br- Barium Bromide=BaBr2 So, lets to the equation: BaCl2 + Br = BaBr2 + Cl2 BaCl2 + Br(liq) = BaBr2 + Cl2(gas) The equation is already balanced, 'cause, as you can see, the quantities of atoms at each side is the same(1Ba-1Ba, 2Br-2Br). --------------------------------------… b. Calculate the number of molecules of chlorine gas formed The number of molecules is the great number that is put at the left side of an atom, e.g.: 3O2 =3molecules of O2 Chlorine gas: 1 molecule (when it is 1, you may not to put it) --------------------------------------… c. Calculate the volume of chlorine gas produced. Cl2 is the standard molecule of Chlorine gas. It is 1 mole of Chlorine gas. 1 mole of any gas occupies 22.4 liters. Answer: 22.4 liters.
